Liquidity Pullout by Coal India IPO

SG Sir,

Heard that Coal India is going to be biggest IPO in India and 3rd biggest in the world.

Can Liquidity Pullout by Coal India IPO cause a short term trend reversal and can it create new opportunities to buy for those who feel left behind in this rally ?

Thanks

Savant Sir , No doubt that Coal India is a good one. But I have a doubt whether Government will leave any juice for listing gain or for short term gain ? I invested in NHPC , for long term, and it is trading below IPO price even after few months ?

Hi RajeABC,

Firstly, I do not recommend anything for listing pop.....

Oberoi was recommended because of my personal dealings with them... this company was not collecting money from public to payoff their debts....it is a zero debt company....and their execution is absolutely first rate...
Moreover, never seen Oberoi ever advertise even in a downward economy to sell their space...usually their is a queue of people lined up...and there isn't enough supply....perhaps the only reason for them to tap the market is to scale up....

Coal India - is from a very different view point....if you study the coal and its fundamentals you will perhaps realise why I have recommended...the topic is too expansive to elaborate the Pros & Cons.

NHPC - If you were looking for Listing gain....I am sure, you must be sorely disappointed.... anyways it is not expected to move before March 2011... & still remains attractive from long term perspective.

Savant Sir ,
Why I mentioned Listing gain or short term gain , if it is not there then same script will be available at 15-20% discount in few days/weeks as it happened in case of NHPC.

If we know valuation history of underwriter then we can predict whether Issue is going to be overpriced or other way.

Anyway I am planing to apply for IPO of Coal and looking to hold it for very long term .

Also as we had discussed , you advised, I am increasing SBI in my portfolio for Right Issue . Last Times premium was very good (1585 when CMP was 2250 ? Am I reading it right ?) .

Thanks for your advise.

Added:I guess ENAM Securities PL is lead manager for Coal India. Enam underwrite NHPC and JP Power Venture (found only these two ..) both went 15-20 % donw after Listing.

Savantji, Anant bhai...

I tried using AmiQuote to extract the EOD data from yah** site, but it never gives me that particular days data. I mean, if i try it on thursday night, it gets the data only till wednesday, although i select thursdays date.

Kindly suggest me a s/w which i can use to get the same days data in the evening itself, if u are aware of any.

Thanks in advance.
