Therefore, at present it is better to continue with your way of fixing the trailing SL. Meanwhile as per your suggestion I will keep track of the SL with this Lin Reg system also. When something useful comes out I will put it here for scrutiny.
Linear regression can give you false signal if it is not in sync with over all setup.

BTW be careful with curve fitting. Either mentally or using automatic back testing methods. The parameter values that you select will show you best result in hindsight but might fail miserably in real life.

Thanks Anant,

What is the price of that Amibroker in Indian Rupees.... I dont mid buying it if that is the best software around :) .... can u tell me something more about it..... i am going for a future in share marker.....

Thanks Man!!!!
Dear Chaitanya,

AmiBroker Standard edition costs Rs. 9,950/-, Professional edition Rs. 13,925/- and Ultimate version costs Rs. 20,425/-. All including VAT. But I feel better wait for Savantji's software. Depending on his test results we can decide about AmiBroker.

AmiBroker is available in India through tradinganalysis. For more details visit their website tradinganalysis co in.

I am in no way connected to tradinganalysis nor to the parent company AmiBroker itself.

Thanks Jace. You are absolutely right. I have gone through this back testing and real time testing. It is sometimes absolutely hazardous to take the signals although in Back test it shows excellent performance. That is why I am not discussing nor publishing it at present. Unless I am very very very confident the system will remain with me only. I don't want somebody to suffer losses because of faulty system.

HI Uma,

How do u keep a track of the stocks hitting the target...
Do u use some software or do u do it manually?

Thanks
Chaitanya,

The Excel sheet automatically checks for hitting SL & Targets. The code is included in the sheet itself. You can test it as follows:
Download the attachment excel sheet and open it. Against any stock name in the 'Today's Price' column type a value higher than Target. You will get 'Yes' in the column at the right end. Similarly, if you type a value lower than SL you will get 'Yes' in the appropriate column.

This is another creation and contribution from Anant. He has given the sheet to me.

Hi Ken,

It is easy to put in the Buy Date also in the report. I did not add it because the report generated will be only for all the stocks bought on the same day. But, yes, if you have more than one list it is easier to maintain the update reports with buy date included. I will modify the AFL and replace in the original post.

-Anant
Thanks Anant. Waiting for your modified AFL to include Buy date. I was also anxious to know how you generated the report for the stocks in the Buy position.

Savantji,

Now regarding using SMA and EMA 5-6 on Aban shows using EMA a better option Same with Axix Bank.

For 5-6 DEMA
Code:
Ticker	Trade	Date	Close
AXISBANK	Buy	3/16/2009	342.5500
AXISBANK	Sell	6/2/2009	719.9000
For 5-6 DSMA
Code:
Ticker	Trade	Date	Close
AXISBANK	Buy	3/16/2009	342.5500
AXISBANK	Sell	4/2/2009	439.6000
AXISBANK	Buy	4/8/2009	443.5500
AXISBANK	Sell	4/22/2009	472.1500
AXISBANK	Buy	4/24/2009	529.6000
AXISBANK	Sell	5/12/2009	669.0000
AXISBANK	Buy	5/13/2009	671.7000
AXISBANK	Sell	5/26/2009	744.7500
AXISBANK	Buy	5/28/2009	782.0500
AXISBANK	Sell	6/1/2009	741.7500
AXISBANK	Buy	6/2/2009	719.9000
AXISBANK	Sell	6/3/2009	717.0000
If it is better option why not take it

Re: Stocks To Keep A Close Eye On - Chapter II

Hi Uma,

It appears that you have uploaded the XL sheet containing just the June 2nd Triggers instead of the consolidated sheet.

Regards
Anil Bezawada

Hi All,

The Excel sheet updated for 5-6-09 containing the triggers for 28-05-09 is attached. Two stocks hit Target:

BEML
TWL (2nd Target hit)

New targets and SL for these will be set by Savantji.

The lone stock, GAIL, in the second list (trigger for 2-6-09) is still in the red. Today it is bit better than yesterday Closing at 306.45 resulting in a P/L of -3.35 per share, Total P/L for 4 shares = -13.4 and P/L % of -1.08.

As there is only one stock in this list, I will henceforth include it in the first list with clearly mentioning the buy date. This avoids posting of two sheets and saves total attachment space.

Ken,

EMA, Is Something That Is Work In Progress Ever Since Kalyan (kkseal) Had Brought It Up The First Time, & Now Anant In His Post.

Am Also Trying Out Combination Of EMA & SMA. On AXISBANK Based On 5/6 It Is Still On BUYHOLD Which Had Triggered On 17/03, One Doesn't Get A SELL So Easily Because Of The Entry Price (Margin Of Safety)

There Are Couple Of More Things I Am Testing, But....Not Much To Write About At This Point Of Time.

Moreover, Now With Anant, Uma & Your Active Participation, I Am Quite Fired Up....:)

Ultimate Objective Is A Simple System, Should Have Better RRR Than The Best That Is Available Anywhere, Must Have A Very Very Short Learning Curve & Finally It Must Be FREE.

~ So That We Are In Someway Instrumental, In Saving Small Investors & Traders, Who Invariably Get Trapped By Smart Money.

'Smart Money' Is What I Managed To Pinpoint When I Started, There Is No Way We Can Fight With Smart Money & There Is Probably No Need To Either, But Atleast We Can Be On The Same Side.

Till We Have An Investors Co-Operative In India.

I Am Sure With Everybodys Help, We Will Be Able To Achieve It & Now It Is Looking Even More Optimistic With Anant, Uma & You Here.

Sincerest Regards

Hi Anant,

Looks Like It Is Almost Done.....Anyways, I Am Quite Excited

Before I Forget, In 20/50 There Is A TSL, I Had Outlined In One Of My Post Some Weeks Back, Which Was Basically From 50 DMA As The First S/L, Thereafter, Reducing The DMA By -1 For Each Subsequent Trading Day, Till We Reach 10 DMA, Where It Can Remain Constant But Values Will Change With Each Day That Elapses.

Your Opinion On This, Whether It Could Be A Better Strategy, For All Types Of Market Conditions.

Warmest Regards

SavantGarde

Thanks Savantji.

As I have mentioned in the post the system is in a very very preliminary stage. You may call it an idea just conceived. I am myself not very sure how it will develop.

As far as using the Stop loss lines in the AFL it is not yet ready for that. What you have seen is a case where it is in a clear uptrend for fairly a long time. In times of consolidation or frequent ups and downs it is also changing the course and today's interpretation will change tomorrow depending on the price movement. The reason is at present (as I have programmed) the system compares the trend since the last reversal with the last five days trend (starting from today ging back five days) and then decides whether there is a significant change. It also takes into cosideration on the long term scale whether the price has breached the upper or lower line. If both conditions are met then it tries to start a new trend. Then this new trend becomes the basic one and same process is adopted for the future days. Therefore, if after starting the new trend within a couple of days there is change in opposite direction then it reverts to old trend and continues with that. In this process whatever Buy/Sell signals were generated will get cancelled. Automatically the Trailing stop lines are also changed.

I am sure what I have written above is not very clear or cohesive. This is because the idea itself has not yet crystallised properly.

Therefore, at present it is better to continue with your way of fixing the trailing SL. Meanwhile as per your suggestion I will keep track of the SL with this Lin Reg system also. When something useful comes out I will put it here for scrutiny.
