Savant,

I was asking about futures segment, apologies for not being clear. I have bought TCS futures contract lot of 1000 shares and paid 1.13 lakhs( total value ~ 5.3 lakhs ) so you mean I should have 5 lakhs in my account. and not touch these 5-1.13 lakhs to buy some other future segment.

If this is the case why would I go for futures as I am already keeping 5 lakhs for 1 future contract which is work 5 lakhs in equity.

I am confused.

From what I had understood from Savant Sir's statement was to have a 35% to 40% exposure i.e if you have 5 lacs buy lots worth abt 2 lacs..

Savant Sirs's calls are as per trend pattern i.e NO SHORT TERM OR LONG TERM BUSINESS.. get in when the trend is UP and GET OUT when the trend is DOWN or follow SL set by Savant Sir..

The advantage of futures lot is u tend to save on brokerage atleast I do coz initially at icicidirect i had to pay approx 1000/- as brokerage for buying or selling any stock i.e 2x1000 = 2000/- for buying a stock and then selling it but in future i pay hardly 200 bucks so in futures I can move out even with a small profit while the same profit would have gone as brokerage :p

Secondly the profit on your position is credited in your account the same day while in secondary market u cannot realise the profit untill u sell your shares..

P.S : This is as per my understanding and others may have contradicting veiws...:thumb:

Dear SG,

This is my first post in your thread. I am holding three lots of Divislab @ 489. The stock made a low of 473 on friday. Today a gap up opening is expected and hopefully the above price will be acheived. Please advise whether I should exit at breakeven or hold it for some gains.

Beat regards

thanks izzner. i will make sure I don't buy more than 2 lakhs lot for capital of 5 lakhs.
Please also answer my 2nd question:
should we buy longer futures contracts or shorter ones? common sense tells me to buy longer ones as there is more possibility that prcie will go up in 2 months than 1 month and it wont expire. We will have more time to square off. please confirm.

its a good idea to buy 'longer ones" as u term it if u have the money to to take care of the MTM losses if any... but there is one down side to the 3 month lot which is liquidity...i.e incase u have to exit quickly as there might not be enough buyers but if you have the money to meet MTM losses if any then no probs at all.. simply "RIDE IT"(as Savant Sir says) for 3 months...

Anmol,

If You See Profit Today Then I Suggest Exit One Lot & Second Lot Tomorrow & Whatever Total Profit Thereafter You Are Sitting On DIVISLAB Protect It In Way Where You Can Giveup Only 50% Of The Profit For The 3rd Lot.

Simply Put Means That You Protect 50% Of Your Profit In Total & Put Appropriate S/L For The 3rd Lot

Hi Izzner,

What Do You Expect They Have Been Singing The Hit Song Repeatedly "Raindrops Are Not Dropping On My Head" On The Channels....But Present Level 4498-4501 Should Be Good To Extract 30 Odd Points On The Long Side.

What is the reason for this sudden down trend for Divislab?
I read the bonus share and 300% dividends..but there were no splits..
please throw some light.
