Can anyone tell me about the setting of BB? What I mean is in Icharts/Rupeeking, when I try to use BB, the default number that comes is 20,2. should I use some other setting or is there any particular importance attached to 20.2 setting? Should we also consider the range between upper and lower band as the intermediate range?

Thanks in advance.

For Rupeeking, you will have to use the default one - the programmer has not made any provision to change it.

For Icharts, under the chart, there is a pane called Upper indicators with few dropdown menus under it. Choose the Bollinger Bands option and in the textbox to the right of it change it to "9,2". By default it will be set to "20,2" when you choose Bollinger Bands.

Hi Talisman,

My Settings For BB Are 9,2 But One Could Use The Default 20,2 No Problems...Experiment...& See Which One You Are Comfortable With.

If The Price Is Closer To The Middle Of Lower BB & Upper BB...Then It Means...Price Action Is Quite Normal.....But Real Action Happens When The BB Has Contracted....& Price Action Moves Vertically On Either Side....That Is Where One Should Take Advantage For A Bigger Profit...Or Else...Normal 2 Bar BB Strategy....When It Has Deviated A Lot From Its Normal Price Action...In The Process Piercing Either Of The BBs....Got It

Savant Ji,

Thanks for explaining. I perfectly understood the first half of your sentence. However, the normal 2 bar strategy thing will be probably better understood with an example.

For example. I was checking the chart of Polaris that I think is in tune with the contracting BB and price is moving upwards (Though not exactly vertical) and is almost on the verge of piercing upper band.

Indusind Bank- I found a contracting band on 12th august and with an upward bias and it pierced through the bar next day. That contraction and upward bias was perfect hint for an upcoming move.

If that is what meant by 2nd half of your explanation? Did I get it right? Plz correct my understanding.

It would have been better if I had used a chart in this reply but Perhaps I am struggling with print screen thing.
