Hi Savant Sir/Enygma/All Seniors,
I am seeing you guys posting lots of charts and doing analysis on the same:thumb:. My query is how I can make these charts or do i need to install some softwares for that or do i need to buy it or what to do??
I want learn charting and its analysis asap. For that I think I need to see current charts and compare it with whatever I read in TA books and in respaective threads.
Currently looking forward to learn it following nifty charting as I think it is easier for me to understand the concept of TA. If my thinking is not correct, please advise me from where to start...

Thanks in Advance....

Thanks Anant Trying your updater for a quick review to see the stocks that have reached the targets and new triggers. I know Savant will give his list of buys. One thing I observe is that chart is not displayed when you click on the list. Could you please let me know the reason and if there is any way to have a quick look at the chart.

Code:
Buy Date	Updated on	SymbolBuy PriceToday's CloseTargetTarget ReachedBuy Trigger
8/24/2009	8/27/2009	BHARTIARTL413.80 416.50	443.95 Buy
Thanks & Regards

Hi Ananth & ken,

Very nice work from ananth.

I found slight hitches running the afl.

1. For scrips which hit SL (we should be out of trade after SL is hit), the P/L is being calculated as Current price - Buy price. it shall be SL price - Buy price.

2. As reported by Ken, when we double click the scrip in the report, it should display particular scrip chart. Instead it gives error

{Sorry, but 'Show Arrow' feature needs TRADE LIST
Go To Settings>Reports and change report mode to 'Trade List' and re-run backtest}

I checked and the report mode is already selected by default to 'Trade List'. How to overcome this?

3. Ken, in your list you have shown a column 'Buy Trigger'. How to get this. The updater afl posted by ananth do not show this. Did u modify the afl?

Regards
Chachi

Hie Anant,

How are you?

Have u completed your system, Or still you are testing it?
Hi Raj,

The system is put to test every day with live mock trade. Modifications are done as and when warranted. The live test started on July 1st. I am compliling all the results since that day and include up to 31 Aug so that 2 months are completed. Meanwhile I am preparing a write up about the system which I would like post here, may be by next week. As I was adding, deleting parts of code during this testing period, the AFL is at present suffering from sphagetti syndrome. I will do some "purification" of the AFL (edit and remove redundant code and arrange in a logical syntax) so that it will be presentable. Just about a week of wating.

Re: GSPL and ROLTA

Hi Ranga

Karthiks Blog has all the details. You can dowload his AFLS and a PDF file on VSA.
www.vpanalysis.blogspot.com

His thread in Traderji also explains all your doubts. His last comment on TF is given below. If you have any doubt ask him on his thread he will clarify.

"In case of VSA it ia better to stick to one TF. Unlike indicators we are looking at actions of different bars... Hence looking at different TF at the same time will only confuse you.. "

Ken,

I had down loaded the pdf on VSA from his blog.

Excellent & it is like reading a detective novel by Sherlockhome. Each action with a reason. Lots of explanatory charts.

Though i am a member in this forum for a long time,i had missed this thread. As there was no effort, the result was Loss.

I suggest the new entrants to Down load this PDF & enrich their knowledge for profit. Knowledge is Power.

My thanks to Karthikmarar,Bunny,Kenneth & cnBondre

Prabhan,

I am currently trying out a trial version of IGuide stocks - www.iguidestocks.com - pointer to which I got from this forum only.

Normally, for my requirements, EOD daily and weekly charts are fine enough. For this, I use investbulls (www.investbulls.com) charting. Icharts (www.icharts.in) also provide good charts.

If you need Nifty intraday real time charting, others would need to help you out on that, since I have not explored it much.

Others who use either Amibroker or Metastock would be able to help you out further.

Enygma.

Bunny,

Whenever you have time - what do the charts of Praj tell you now as far as volume action is concerned? Gave a breakout above last month's highs with the highest volumes in the past 4 years or so.

P.s - Am already long from a much lower level, just wanted to understand the volume action.

Regards,
Enygma.
Hi Enygma,
It looks good for a short-term target of 112-115, 98(or the pink line extension) could be a strong support for the time being.

The example for this would be something like this. (This will assume you have a general sense of market direction - atleast a very short term sense of market directon).

Lets say we feel that the current range of Nifty for the next one week is between 4600 and 4800. When the market dips towards 4600 and takes support (above 4600), buy the 4600 call which is just ITM or ATM. After a couple of days of upward movement, if the market shows some weakness and is unable to move further beyond 4750, buy the 4800 put which is ITM. On confirmation of the downtrend (break of 4725), sell the 4600 call (which would give you profit) and hold the 4800 put. When the market again takes support at some level and halts it downtrend, sell the 4800 put and repeat the process relooking at the new range you feel the market is in.

Points to note are that you are not holding the options for too long unless there is a continuous uptrend or downtrend. Also, you are trying to buy low and sell high so buying the calls near supports and selling at resistances. Vice versa for puts - buying at resistances and selling near supports. And during consolidation, you might actually be holding both the call and the put for a day or so or just do not be in a trade until the market determines its way forward.

Disclaimer :- All numbers mentioned above are fictional and any resemblance to any resistance or support - whether dead or alive - is purely coincidental. :)

Regards,
Enygma.

Very Well Explained..... that was an impressive presentation

Re: Stocks To Keep A Close Eye On - Chapter II

Hi Talisman,

One More Query Like That Will Get You Chlormint Treatment....:)

These Are The Original Triggers Which I Used To Post On A Daily Basis & Are Based On 5/6 System....They Do Not Have Targets & Exit Is Your Either Of The S/L.

Since Most Of The Stocks Had Already Triggered BUY Long Time Back (Check The Trigger Dates For Each Of The Scrips), There Was No New Triggers But Have Updated The S/Ls For Next One Month.

Now I Have Changed Some Formatting To Make It A Little Easier For Myself

By The Way On Your Excel Sheet Of 20/50, Instead Of Having So Many Sheets, It Is Work In Progress To Make The Updates Easier, Will Try & Finish It During The Week.
