Re: Stocks To Keep A Close Eye On - Chapter II

Anant,

Thanks for that explanation on the IFCI chart.

Now another help - Was looking at your logic for defining a higher low in order to move the stop loss up for a stock in "Bought" condition. In some cases, I do find that we have made a higher low, but the AFL is not moving the stop loss upwards. For example, with my data, the AFL is showing stop loss for Infosys at 1935, while visually it has made a couple of higher pivot lows atleast. For me, the stop would be around 2270.

Whenever you have time over the long weekends coming up, you can please crosscheck this with your data?

Thanks,
Enygma.
Hi Enygma,

For INFOSYSTCH the current SL is 2120. The default %change is 2% set in the AFL. With this setting the SL is shown as 1935. If you change it to 1% it will become 2120. The % change setting determines the peak/trough in the chart. What it does is checks for a change equal to or more than the set value in Low (for trough) or High (for peak) between adjacent bars. For stocks like INFY whose price is about 2000, the change of 2% means a difference of 40 or more. For such stocks you may adjust the % change to a lower value. This will result in smaller changes being accounted for as troughs and the SL will correspond to those troughs. By doing this the target price also changes as SL is used in calculating targets. No harm. You will be hitting targets earlier and more number of times as the targets get reduced. But SL also will be closer and more likely to be hit and you will be out of trade early. As the stocks like INFY go down considerably and again go up, a deeper SL will keep you in trade and achieve higher targets resulting in higher returns.

You can change the default settings to whatever value you are comfortable with. That is why I have not hard coded these values. I have made these parameters flexible and changeable by user.

Mr SG, If in loss still we shld book it ? I bot a few qty at 99.05 on22.09.09. Plz advise. Thanks.....SM
Sibu Sir,

The SL given was with respect to an earlier trigger for which target & SL were given at that time. If you have purchased based on another recommendation, then it will have different target and SL. you have to wait for those levels and don't go by the older values.

Hi Everybody,

Let's do one more thing...let's try and guess, how old is Savant?

Mind you he has strong gut..so I keep my SL at 40yrs and I am short too.
I will not guess.:):):)
