Hi Anant Sir /Savant Sir / Seniors,

I have query regarding volume analysis. For cash market, we should always looks delivery based volume or total volume? Which makes more sense. In my opinion we should look del based volume. Also, if I want to get delivery based vol for amibroker how can I get it.
The two types of volumes will differ a lot based on the stocks you analyse. Many day traders, speculators will trade a stock on margin which will add to non- del vol. Stocks with high beta like Unitech, suzlon, dlf etc are day trading favourites. So non-del vols will be higher on such stocks. When stocks are in news, non-del vol may increase due to day traders.

When considering del and non del vols you have to look at past del and non del vol. Large moves with small del vols is a warning.

Just use the volume which you get with the bhavcopy, it's just easier.

Remember, trading is an art, that's why supercomputers that forecast decades of global weather are not used to forecast next weeks stock price

Re: Deep Pocket

Hi Tarun,

Deep Pocket Is A Relative Term.....Depending On Position Sizing You Can create Your Own Deep pocket....& Not Worry About MTM Losses.

To Illustrate The Above Point With Figures....

Let's Say Your Capital In The F&O Ledger Is 10L

Let's Assume With Hypothetical Figures To Keep Them Rounded For Easier Understanding.

You BUY 1 Lot Of Nifty Future @ 5000.00
Total Margin Requirement 30K
If It Closes @ The Same Purchase price Of 5000.00

Your Available Ledger Balance Will Be 9.70L

Now Let's Assume Nifty Goes Down By 1000 Points To 4000.00
Incurring A MTM Loss Of 50K

Your New Ledger Balance Will Be 9.20L

It Goes Down Further By 1000 Points To 3000.00

Your Ledger Balance Will Be 8.70L

It Goes Down Even Further By 1000 Points To 2000.00

Your Ledger Balance Will Be 8.20L

Worst Case Scenario Goes Dow Further By 1000 Points To 1000.00

Your Ledger Balance Will Be 7.70L

Now Inspite Of Going Down By 4000 Points Your Ledger Still Stands @ 7.70L

Therefore 3.0L Would be Very Very Deep Pocket For 1 Nifty Lot,

Hence If We Started With 3.0L & 1 Lot Nifty You Are Covered For The Worst Case Scenario & 10L With 1 Lot Of Nifty Is An Overkill In Terms Of Meaning Of Deep Pocket.

That Is Why I Mentioned In The Beginning It Is Relative Term To Your Position Sizing.

Get It....!!!

Looks Like You Are Itching To Get Into Forex....:)

Savant,

You had talked about deep pockets in your posts. How much money makes a deep pocket? How can deep pocket benefit us?

Thanks,
Tarun

ok so in essence deep pocket is one which can survive worst case MTM losses ant still be in comfort zone.

But How is big pocket helping me ? Wont I keep a stop loss of X% or low of 5 days or whatever it is , while trading in futures.

Forex : will ping u after 2 months.
