technical software???

#1
Hi friends,

I am here to share/exchange some investment experience with you. I am investing for last two years and have lots of experience in the equity market. Ups and downs of market and when i was starting investment in stock market i didnt hav any target, not a single statergy that how to trade. But that lack of knowledge of market given me nothing to earn from the market. when I was reading Traderji I come to know about the technical software to analyse the market and stocks, there are lots of technical software like Metastock, Falcon, Spider Software, Spider Iris etc. But i am totally confused to whcih software i should go with.

Dear Kailly
there are several charting software and data providers in the market,

I use Ami with RT data from market-data-provider,

different peoples have different views & opinions,

Regarding Amibroker,
i find this charting software most versatile and user friendly,
I never had any need to try any other charting software...

i use RT data from market-data-provider

I chose them after trying almost all available data vendors, finally zeroed to them, being in annual mode i get several freebies too, like 2months IEOD and NIFTY OPTIONS, above all the OI is also getting, which is essential data, if u r trading in Future. Also its comparitively quite cheap for similar data from any other data vendors
I donot trust yahoo data, No rescue in case failure..

MDP are learnt to be launching the OPTION EoD data for All FnO stocks too, it will help u in positional trade in OPTIONS..

a question on Long term trading

Friends
a newbie question -
When we allocate stocks for selling it is it guaranteed that all (or few) of the stocks gets sold?, i know may be a stupid question. My question - say if we buy 100 numbers of some great stocks (after studying) for long term investing. 1,2 years after that if price of the stocks gone higher (profit for sure) and you list all of them for selling (say you are using ICICIDirect). If its guaranteed that it gets sold then for sure you get profit, isn't it? If stocks gets sold only if there are buyers at that time then profit is not guaranteed isn't it. I wanted to know if this understanding is correct. Like in Mutual Fund when you want to sell units there is no question of these units not getting sold, does this hold tru for Stocks as well?

Dear Pravin,
As far as my understanding goes, through any Tech Charting software, it is virtually impossible to predict the long term view (1year or 2 year) of any stocks,

for this much period U need to study the Fundamental Part of the analysis.

Based on Technical analysis, u need to follow the EoD data on daily basis to take decision of Exit or Hold, if U have bought some stocks.... Here the Trend plays deciding factor,

I hope it may help U...

Since this thread is about software to practice trading based on technicals. You might find TurTrades interesting.

It lets you practice trading based on technical indicators. Basically it presents you a stock at random date and you have an option to buy, short or pass. If you click next day it forwards to next day. It basically lest you trade back in time using real historical market data.

TurTrades is free and only uses USA traded stock, but stock behavior should be similar in any market. It is good for practicably picking stocks without waiting several days to see if you can pick profitable stocks. If you have any questions how to use the software just let me know and I will be glad to help.
