Dear All Friends,

We are facing lots of whipsaws. Due to which finally I have reduced position on my trading account. (Reduce by 25%)

I obsered nifty is trading in very small range from July 2009. I though nifty will take good momemtum from jun or july of 2010 but it doesn't happended.

The reason I found is only indian market is trading at last 2 years high and all other market US europian & asian are around 10-15 % below from their high of last 2 years.

Also VIX of indian market it very low it was in the range of 35 - 55 in Jan 2009 to Oct 2009. And now it didn't hit 30 from last 5-6 month and trading in the range of 15-20. This is the main reason we are not able to make good profit in nifty future.

I will wait for increase in VIX and good momemtum in nifty or if I found any good trading system which can give us good profit in such range bound market I will start this thread again.

Feel free to raise the questions your experience on this thread. I will be not posting the levels here but will active on this thread.

Happy Trading....

It is depends on how volatile the stock or index. Marin money required for Nifty is 12% that is for Bank nifty is 15% and for stocks it varies from 20-33%.

For example if you purchase nifty lots of 50 at 5500 it will cost 275000 so 12% means 33000 rs is required on your account as margin money.

Hi Nifty,

I think your broker is keeping too much as margin money. For NF, the span (which is a function of volatility) is only 7 to 7.5%. Brokers keep 3 to 10% as a factor of safety in addition to that while calculating margin money. For NF, most of the brokers keep anywhere between 18k to 28k (max) as margin...
