Cement scrips were in the limelight on the bourses on Tuesday with pivotals Grasim rising 2.2 per cent to Rs 1,049.90, ACC gaining 1.90 per cent to Rs 265.45 and Gujarat Ambuja Cements up 1.63 per cent to Rs 311.40. The counters were among the top four gainers in the BSE Sensex basket. Analysts said that firm cement prices and a sustained demand have helped the scrips attract attention in the market. Players said that firm cement prices during the monsoons have helped sentiment with a strong demand resulting in a increase in shipment in July. Analysts said that demand is expected to grow due to demand for infrastructure and a improved demand-supply ratio will bode well for the sector. Demand from the Gulf is also being viewed as extremely favourably by the market, brokers said.
