Trading through Data Cards

#1
Can any one throw light on the effectiveness of data card for a trader.

I can not pay huge bills of Broadband and want to buy a Data Card, is it sufficient for a Trader?

I mean the pages load pretty fast?, I dont want this for high Graphics and all, just want for my small internet usage and 3-4 Hrs of trading.

Help!!!

I won't suggest data card unless you have absolutely no other option.
Also, which data card will you go for? Don't fall for what speed they are writing on the package. Ex: if they say it delivers upto 238 kbps, it may actually deliver only 100kbps and there is nothing much about it.

I will advise you to go for wired broadband as atleast for now, I find them more reliable and consistent. Also, trading does not require much bandwidth per se. so you can settle for some mid range plan.

Previously I used Airtel USB data card.It was Rs1100 monthly unlimited(not knowing whats the rates now a days). Its maximum effective downloading speed (NOT Band width) was 10-15 KB/S.For trading there wont be any problem. But it seems too costly as BSNL Broadband has slashed their prices (RS 500 for unlimited download at a max effective download speed of 30-35 Kb/S).Regarding this I will advise you, to alwayas opt for an Unlimited Scheme in BSNL Broadband, rather than getting lured to opt for any other low valued scheme. But remind that those schemes have very wide bandwidth and they are very fast.It will be difficult for you to monitor and ration data usage (which will be very limited in that case). And once you exceed your free limit, your bill will start zooming fast like NIFTY now a days! You can try BSNL GPRS too, with a Rs 199 Unlimited Scheme. But its too slow and takes time to pick pace.Sometimes I use it in emergency (when Broadband starts creating problem)and have found two ODIN Diet. and two other charting software runs smoothly with that. After all GPRS should not be the first option.:)

@Saav,
it would also be better if you tell us where you reside. In Mumbai/Thane, there are many good options for less than Rs. 500 pm.

3500 Rs , buy the Instrument. and Monthly Bill would be 550+Srvc Tax

1000 Rs one time seq. deposit and monthly bill 550+200 ( rent of device) +Srvc Tx

Speed up to 2mbps, I am getting nearly 1mbps in South Blore.

Though speed is variable, but unlimited usage.

Dwnld speed is 40 to 60 kbps for Mp3 dwnld.

Hi guys... Pardon me for putting my query in someone else's thread. I find this good option than creating a separate thread.

Is BSNL 500/pm plan with 2.5GB data transfer limit (beyond that its charged) sufficient for full time trading ? How much data will be used per day ?

Thanking you. :)
