SUGAR NEWS:
FOOD minister Sharad Pawar has asked petroleum minister Murli Deora to ensure that oil marketing companies start buying ethanol from sugar mills as soon as possible.
The delay in selling ethanol is costing mills dearly because it is their only profitable stream of revenue right now, along with co-generation of power. The government has made it compulsory for all oil to contain 5% ethanol from October this year.
