Morgan Stanley acquires 2.5 percent in JM Financial

Mumbai: After having 2.37 percent stake in JM Financial, Morgan Stanley Mauritius bought another 18.4 million shares at Rs. 37.06 a share. An investment arm of former foreign partner Morgan Stanley bought nearly 2.5 percent of shares in JM Financial Asset Management for Rs. 68.24 crore, reports Anirudh Laskar and N. Sundaresha Subramanian from the Mint.

Morgan Stanley Mauritius has raised its stake to nearly 4.8 percent per day in the firm, and it is reported that a majority stake in Morgan Stanley Mauritius is likely to be bought by Mukesh Ambani.

With a growth of 20 percent, the shares of JM Financial rose to Rs. 38.10 at the close of trade in Mumbai. Citigroup Global Markets Mauritius sold 10.29 million shares. On the other hand, Tiger Global sold its entire holding of 8.1 million shares.

According to Mint, the deal with Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries values JM Financial at about 8 percent of its assets under management. As of April, the amount is Rs. 6.85 billion.

In a total of 27 investment plans, assets worth Rs. 8,569 have been managed by JM Financial. It would be one of the biggest in India's mutual fund industry, if the acquisition goes through at that valuation, according to Mint.

Be very careful with Bharti Airtel Stock has been downgraded from BBB- to BB+ 1 step downgrade due to excessive leverage on the company. The downgrade has been by S&P. It looks like a doggy up move of 4.5%

China Rocketing might take the other markets up with it. 2% up already.

Taneja ji ,
I never had opportunity to visit their branch BUT I do not agree with you that an office/region can reflect true picture of a company which has a 10,000-strong distributor base covering 52 locations in India.

Deal Date Scrip Code Scrip Name Client Name Deal Type * Quantity Price
31/5/2010 523405 JM Financial MORGAN STANLEY MAURITIUS COMPANY LIMITED B 18413458 37.06

If MORGAN STANLEY MAURITIUS COMPANY is buying then its difficult to believe that they don't have a bright future (could be a bad decision of MS ).

Nothing personal Tanejaji , I just put news which I got from websites and rumour going in the market

I have few hundred shares (free after making profit in recent run) for very long term under my strategy to build my portfolio (leave 50% on profit in the company).
