The new product looks awesome, but was disappointed to hear that it will be only available for web or mobile platform
1.is there any technical difficulties to make it as a desktop based program?
2. on web browsers, does it rely on any of the plugins like flash, silverlight, java etc?
Hey ashsahu,
On the first question, we believe that the web is the future. Web technologies have made advances in leaps and bounds compared to desktop technologies. You are still stuck to using C++/Objective-C/.NET or Java if you want to write a desktop platform. On the web, every year there's a significant upgrade that can push trading to it's limits.
With Chrome and V8, Google has thrown it's back on putting world class apps on the web. Their browser, more or less, compiles web code into native before running it. Then you have Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge racing to be the best performing browser.
Web just gives you so much flexibility, and in the long run, will be just as good as Desktop. You can run it on any OS, any device without any installation fuss. It's already pretty advanced at the moment, there are just no good trading platforms that take advantage of the performance yet. If you don't have a good tech team, you can't build it.
Second question, no -- it's purely HTML5. There's not a bit of silverlight, Flash or Java in the platform. This enables the app to be run from anywhere without any messy plugin process.
