zerodha,

Cross-Hair :

please refer to a MT4 terminal -

a) In Pi, it does not show number of candles between two selected points - A to B.
b) In Pi, it does not display the difference between two points.

Was this not included?
Oh I miss that feature very much. even Ami does not have it.
It shows the price difference and as well as number of candles.

1) Right, one tends to compare with the previous experiences. But the snap quote window is so huge that it literally blots out everything else on the screen. It covers most of the chart, the market watch, the order etc... Do notice the size difference between the Pi snap quote and TradeTiger's snap quote!!!! Also, TT's snap quote is resizable as the two different images show.

...

In my terminal, after a while both the data boxes had the same color, and I didn't even apply the patch !! heck, I didn't even log out :D
Resizable now seems to mean 3 different things:

a. As in the image that you have shown -- content remains same, whitespace is reduced
b. As in a previous post of yours -- content is reduced
c. As in a normal window -- content remains same, dragging the window border just hides some of it

Of course, the obverse is for the user to get a bigger screen :p

As to scrip selection, there is a growing tendency to use the TradingSymbol as the key. This is done in the Chart Settings window, and auto-trading for example. It would require an exchange qualifier if MCXSX is considered. Though I just cannot find any official and public exchange document that provides a concordance. Also, implicitly, the format assumes that expiry is in month multiples.

But have a care... UI interface design is not currently Zerodha's strong point. Witness the databox. Would you allow "Price on Y", or inconsistent case usage, to go out of the door?

Excellent analysis :thumb:

For a solution,

--> they can offer a choice of 2 different snap quote windows in the user setting or on the right click in the market watch - one small window with the bare essentials and the other larger window with all the bells and whistles.

or

--> offer a small window with "Expand/Collapse" button.

Having a small resizable window may, in future, enable Pi to offer more than one snap quote window. Wouldn't you love that :D something like this

not an option at present. Having a bigger screen will mean making changes to how I use a computer !!! Distance from the computer, the placement of the keyboard/mouse/chair etc..etc.. and also how I look at the various elements on the screen.

Most of the first paragraph is bouncer for me, bit of heavy stuff.

But yes, Zerodha need to hire some experienced dummies to test their software. I think I had once started a thread on "NOW for dummies" :D.. So I am qualified to offer my services and am willing to resettle in Bangalore :D :D
