We keep getting the snapshot data every 1 second from the exchange, so not necessary that a client from Zerodha has to place a trade.

Just so we are on the same page We retail traders may not need tick by tick. Tick by tick is always a plus but we definitely need accurate OHLC values in Candle stick chart. All(Most) price analysis and indicators are based on this and if this is wrong then all the analysis are wrong.

from your replies what I got is you are saying without tick by tick data accurate OHLC candle stick charts are not possible.
Please correct if I am wrong.

Also wanted to know how is your 1 second snapshot data different from the legal data vendors data who subscribe to the NSE Level 1 data.(GDFL for example)

When you place an order and is sent to the exchange servers via our servers, you get the benefit of whatever is the tick available at the exchange, so your orders in essence get to see the tick by tick data at the exchange, but your marketwatch doesn't.

The 1 second snapshot data what you see on NEST is very similar to what you see on one of the authorized data vendors. But again it won't really be an exact match. The advantage with charting on a trading platform is that it would probably be a few milliseconds faster... The advantage with data vendors is probably that they keep cleaning up the data, adjusting for splits, freak trades, and etc...

Hi Zerodha,

Heard that there are different levels of data available with exchages/broker. Can you explain what are they? and Which data we retailer get/see?
and Who get the other data/information?

thanks/brill

What you get is 1 second snapshot on the trading platform, very similar to level 1 data that data vendors give you.

Anyone can get other information, you just have to go through a data vendor.
