Does MIS order accepted for options buying (if so what is the margin).

Today in my trade book I noticed that NIFTY PE 5800 option buy of 40lots got executed for MIS order type, which I have done in the intention of buying in normal order.
Since it was placed from web and I didn't noticed the order type that time(assuming the order type would be normal by default as i always trade using terminal). Because of this the SELL order of 40 lots for the same option with normal order type got executed as new short entry (which I've done in the intention of closing my previous open position).

The BUY order (MIS order) got closed by admin at 3.20 and the sell order for 2000 (NORMAL type) also squared by zerodha except of 250 (3lots).

Im confused about the margin im having now, because I believe margin for carrying one lot of nifty option (short position) would be around 25k-30k.

I still wonder how the above scenario is possible especially when my margin was only around 50k.

Arul, A lot of our clients write options using MIS for higher leverage for intraday and hence we have enabled this product.. When you buy options, you can buy as MIS, but it will be squared off by end of the day..

As and when options are out of the money the margin blocked is lesser, it is possible that you were allowed to hold 3 lots of nifty 5800 puts short position with around 50k in your account..

I was checking Hindalco Stock Future margin both in Span Calculator and Backoffice margin file on date 11-Decm -2012.

I find different margin amounts. Please see the margin amounts in screenshots.

Can you please tell which margin is correct and needs to be maintained in a/c for NRML carry forward positions ?

THere is a possibility of margin varying on the SPAN file and calculator by small amount because the SPAN file that is usually put on the backoffice is the first span file of the day, whereas the calculator does it on a live basis..

edit:could login after few attempts, so apparently no errors on client side software/config/password/setup etc. . .

We were running some tests just to make sure that something like yesterday doesn't repeat.. We had it live before the market opened and I guess the performance would have been better than before..

Yes, we will continue offering both ZT and NOW.. The last couple of days issue is a one off and hopefully won't repeat... MCX-SX will start next month and there might be a lot of arbitrage opportunities as there might be decent liquidity when the exchange starts.. You can make use of this opportunity on ZT..

The point is zerodha you are here all day long and last 2 days problem and you are not here , and you may have had viral , upset stocmach or many other things

But its simple replying here you could have made some one sit here and reply to the
poor fellow who were stuck holding a positions

I hope we could swithc our jobs for a day, I run your trading strategy and you answer queries on Zerodha on open forums.. .. phewwwwww!!!!! .. .. Have been on this forum everyday answering queries for the last 2.5 years, might have missed a couple of days.. Traderji is default page on my browser and hence will always show logged in..

A lot of work was put yesterday morning onwards and I was sitting with omnesys team to ensure that this doesn't happen again..

It is one thing to offer NOW and do broking, but having our own technology and at the margin we work.. hmmm .. it is very challenging.. .. If we had clients like you who were paying us 50k/month , I'd be your personal assistant.. ..

I would like to follow SPAN file .

margin is same for buying and short selling stock future ? or there are separate SPAN files ?

This is regarding colour of INDICES in dialog box.
Colour should change ONLY according to previous DAY close
but should not change every second based on previous reading.
