Hi Zerodha,
I think algo is based on chart.First a strategy is prepared from chart, then it is put to algo.So charting should be good first. I face a problem regularly. At some point chart does not move further horizontally, that means no further candle is formed, only vertical up and down move on the same candle. Please solve this problem. Secondly chart window should be detatched from the terminal so that it can minimised to the bar and maximised when required and can be viewed with full screen.

The Ranking system in 60-day challenge seems unfair.

Winners should be Ranked as per percentage gains on Capital. If software cannot manage that, then rank them according to total rupees earned.

There is very important reason to adopt this system of ranking. A shrewd trader, after getting into profit, would stop trading in Zerodha account for the rest of the period. This will not only affect Zerodha's revenues but also be unfair to other traders in the competition. The trader will be wrongly certified as a winner.

This being the second year, it will also up the challenge as it will really test the trader on the psychological level as he will have to keep check on greed.

I guess there is no ranking ......whoever is in profits, is a winner..........

Anyone trading with NOW on windows 8 platform? I bought a new system with windows 8 and installed NOW from the zerodha website. When I am trying to launch NOW, it gives an error saying "Failed to open mpic config file".

Hi
Please tell me required margin to carry for next day with you if I have following positions as they are hedge so risk factor is low.
1. buy 1 lot of Nifty Future at 5900 and buy 1 lot PE of 5800 at 55

2. Covered Call of nifty Buy 1 lot of 5900 at 90 and sell 1 lot of 6100 at 23

I get to carry the above said position from other broker at lower cost so would like to know your offer for same....

sir,
I aam successfully using now on windows8 64 bit.First delete now, then reinstall.
In windows8, If you have installed NOW in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files(x86), then you have to run with admin privileges or you will get error as stated by you.
Otherwise install in D: drive in any folder, it will work without admin privileges.

Okay, let's simplify:

1. What function tells you the bar interval? Typical representative response would be 1 minute, or 5 minute, or daily, maybe represented as minute multiples since a time-frame lower than that is unsupported.
2. What function/expression gives the number of bars since market open?

The return value could be a scalar or vector, does not matter.

You are right in that it has to be there somewhere. A bar chart is OHLCV + time representation. The OHLCV have their inbuilt vectors; just where is the time value (and the corresponding time computation functions)?
Yusi,

1. There is no function in the code that represents the interval. In fact, the expressions built are independent of intervals. They can be applied on any interval you select

2. The REF function is the only one which represents time, I think. This is to compute bar before or from the current one. Whenever we use the REF function, it computes on the basis of the current bar, so 'x' bars +/- the current bar.

So am in touch with the programmers to figure out if this can be done as you have posted below, T (whether it is start datetime of bar, or end time) should obviously be available. Unfortunately, the manual does not say anything. I suspect it has not been exposed to scripting; hope I am wrong.

Cheers,

We are working on fixing these issues, Prabit.

Jamit,

In trading, the competition is always with yourself and no one else. Control your greed/fear and following proper risk/money management. The idea with the 60 day challenge is to push this point home..

And as far as clients stopping trading to get back brokerage before challenge is concerned, there is so much more to get back at the end of the challenge than only the brokerage and we are hoping that the traders don't miss that point.
Cheers..
