Re: I am having a headache NOW

Hi Guys,

I am a first time trader. Just got my trading account opened with Zerodha yesterday. Since then having a torrid time with NOW. :annoyed:

First of all, it just wasn't ready to login. Tried everything including uninstalling and re installing. After consulting Zerodha guys, they told me to reinstall the software and the patch into another location on my drive. Finally, i could login.... only to face the same problem again couple of hrs later. I had to again reinstall into another new location in my drive. Dunno, how many times i ll have to do this...

Second, the software is so SLOW. It takes ages to launch. And it hangs so often. I added a few watch lists and tried to open intraday chart for one of the scrips and it hanged... i had to close the software and when i re-login... whoa... all my watchlists are gone... Doesn't the software autosave work?

I want to know from Traderji friends that, is this a general experience of everyone with NOW or is there something wrong in my case?

I don't know how one can trade intraday with such a slow software that hangs frequently and doesn't login at times making you reinstall it again and again.

Guys, any suggestions or help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Akash.

P.S. I have to say that Zerodha support team did a good job helping me out with some of my issues...u guys rock... very prompt and efficient...keep up the good work.:thumb:
Hi Akash,

Firstly, if charting is hanging don't use it... We will launch NEST on which Charting is much better...

NOW is really fast, don't know why you are facing the issue. Can you shoot an email to [email protected] with Sachin in C.C...

When you create marketwatch, you need to save it.. If you are loggin out, it will auto save it, but if software hangs and you close it, marketwatch won't get saved...

can you also let me know what is the internet speed you have?? Shoot an email, you shouldn't have so much trouble...

@Zerodha

I need a clarification regarding Squaring Off current position in Fno And CDS by a limit order. Suppose I have 10 thousand rupees in my account and I buy a single contract for 9000 rs as margin money. Now I want to square off this position after some time by taking a sell order in the same contract. Now, as I have only 1000 rs left in my account for this new sell order to take place, Will the Now system not reject the second order to sell as I wouldn't have sufficient margin in my account? I wonder how will the system know that my second order to sell is infact a square off, Limit Price, order for the first buy order and not a order to initiate a fresh short position requiring addition margin money in my account?
Hi Ninja,

If you are holding a position and you are placing a selling order or a stop loss order, systems are intelligent enough to know that and you won't be asked for any extra margin...

But if you have 1 lot of nifty and you place a sell order and also a stop loss order, then you would be asked extra margin because you are placing two exit orders...

Hopefully clarifies...

Hi friends/Zerodha,

Currently running NOW EXE displays intraday charts of only today? How many day's intraday charts?

And Zerodha is going to switch over to Nest. How many day's intraday chart do Nest display?
And when Equity trading will be switched to Nest?
NEST for equities should take a months time ... Intraday charts of upto 5 days available on NEST plus...

Zerodha plz reply.
If i select a "limit buy order in equities" as-
limit- 200
validity- DAY
Type- CNC.

Then is it INTRADAY/DELIVERY trade?
Hi Rushi,

If you buy with product type CNC, you can buy and sell it whenever you wish... If you buy as CNC and sell before 3.30pm it is considered as intraday , but you can buy as CNC and take delivery ...

@Zerodha, 5 days intraday data only??!!!!! I thought it would be comparable to sharekhan's TT. If I look at 5 mins data, its ok, if I look at 1 hour data, there would not be enough data. I have not used TT, but people like it, am sure lot of people would start comparing with it. I remember 2-3 years back using NEST demo from way2wealth guys only to get disappointed with those ports, now with NOW and NEST its the same :( Nowonline and NOW on iphone/android is what is helping now for putting trades. But, for charts you have to go to exe, which wont work if i am behind FW :(

I guess you will have to push NOW/NEST people to get competitive softwares for us, I guess right now TT seems to be best.

Also, please try to host on well known/popular ports, not 56000 and 45454. Please get it on 80. Its better if you do it from now itself for NEST for commodities and then for when you move to Equities as well.

Well, its a sincere request. I am hoping you would soon have a solution for me (and others who have same issue).

You can do it, way to go.....!!

Cheers!

I always thought Port 80 was meant only for HTTP traffic, that's why it's kept
open in offices, otherwise you won't be able to surf.
