Professionals trade ~180 / 240 days in the market?:)
All the best to you!
Professional day traders, who trade volume, trade on almost all days except days when data or announcements are due. Even on such days I know day traders who trade 3 times normal qty on such days, as they have extremely small stops, and targets are open ended.

And I remember mentioning DAY TRADERS.
Yes, most professional day traders trade almost daily. Or they are not professional. I doubt there are too many day trading systems in the markets that give signals once a week.

Most day traders take many trades per day.

As for swing traders, cannot comment on that, because once taken, a position may continue for days to weeks.

This would defeat the objective that they laid out at the very beginning... To make the traders disciplined... avoid taking unnecessary trades....

This challenge has helped me in that aspect.... I have probably traded for only 4-5 trading days with Zerodha... but all those trades were the ones in which I had 100% confidence.... and all those trades were profitable... :)

The trades in which I wasn't 100% confident were traded with another broker.... Some of them were profitable and some were not... :D

But to clear a point... I didn't open another account in the name of Family members... :)
Sorry I did not realize there would be traders who would trade only a few days in the 60 days as part of their trading strategy, but then the brokerage generated would also be quite less, and Zerodha should not mind giving that back to the winning trader as part of the challenge. That's the reason I cannot really figure out how anybody can misuse this challenge.

Okay, here is a fool proof suggestion for Zerodha: refund brokerage only to those winning traders after they have completed 60 days of trading in their account and have made a profit, counting only the days that they have traded (which should total 60) and not the actual Market trading days. That way it will be fair to the trader who takes only a few trades a month and also fair to the traders who trades everyday. This will also take care of the multiple accounts, as the multiple account holders will anyway have to complete their 60 days of trading before they are eligible for any kind of refund.

One of the best suggestions, I would say.

60 trading days on which the trader traded. Active ones, 60 actual trading days. Swing, 6 months, long term trader... who knows... but would save on cheating

I completely agree...............60 Trading days in 4 months or 6 months etc.

If some one adopting techtics for just win the challenge, they will never become TRADER, and the overall profit may be negative....:) because they never find winning strategy and they never learn...

And I could not understand, how some one can shift losing account to another account and how many time is possible ??

It would be nice idea to refund the brokerage of those customers who have remained profitable after X trading days (in which he actually traded) within a period of 3X or 4X days. Overnight positions will be counted while considering trading days (excluding holidays). This will decrease this cheating as well as encourage people to trade with Zerodha. Graded refund will create more confusion. my 2 cents... :D

We definitely want to continue this, but we have observed some issues over the last few weeks which may hamper the challenge to be run in the present format... Ideas from all of you on overcoming these issues will be very nice...
Keep it simple:
Instead of number of days [60 Days], count the 'Number of Trades' say every 100 trades cycle.
Itll stop cheating & increase trading frequency.
:)

Cheers.
