is this a trading terminal provided by the broker's or is it a charting software?
also 2 nifty points per day means 260*2*50=26k but iris costs 53k. so it is not used by AL.

actually we forget that in trading terminal software we do not need such fancy stuff - the basic stuff for buying and selling is just enough. for charting there are world class software. but we also strive for those things in our trading terminal and thus the the trading thing gets hampered.

so we must concentrate on the trading terminal and forget abut other stuff not related to the trading .

Nest Plus

You know I get data feed with real time sector by sector scrip by scrip changing heatmaps, graphical FII DII data and all option prices and their tick charts, colour coded OI changes and spikes and much much more all on one world class interface for the price of 2 nity points a day. Your nest people can not even imagine such sophistication. All I can say is I do not know how and why you decided to tieup with this crappy omnsys products but this I know that sticking with such shoddy software will be the reason of your downfall one day. it is just a matter of time that sooner or later some new indian broker company with world class trading platform will come out and the way people came from all over to make you a success will dump you in no time.
Why does this venom spitting ? First of all we should understand Zerodha has nothing to do with Nest . Nest trader is a platform approved by NSE . very few platforms are approved by Nse for trading and Nest is one among them . Not only Zerodha many other companies are offering Nest viz Edelweiss etc.. like Now is offered by Zeodha as well as RKSV. Like in the past many companies used Odin .
Secondly unlike Odin , the broking companies do not have control over the additional features offered by Nest.
If you are customer of some other company which offers Nest , there too you have to contact Nest Team for value added services .
So stop complaining Zerodha for the extra features.
Moreover Nest is 90 % trading platform and 10 % is other services . We cannot expect a quality of Tradestation quality for free or the small amount we pay .
If we want Tradestation quality we must be ready to pay that much price that software must be an approved by NSE .
There is a vast difference between a Trading software and Charting Software .A trading platform can not come near a Dedicated Charting software like Amibroker and its kind.
Nest is trying to integrate (or integrated ) Trading+ Charting+Automating in one platform and IMO they achieved near perfection .
If you think of MT4 where charting and Trading in one platform , well Nse has not approved it so far .
If you want sophisticated platform like Tradestation or Thinkorswim or its like , they are costly and well they too are not approved by NSE.
Well , I think you all know that we cannot place an order in a platform which is not approved by Nse . Can we ?
If you need a platform like IB's TWS , then ready to bear its high costs. So we cannot have our cake and eat it too . We have to compromise on something .
In my experience , Nest is a very good and fastest platform in Nse at present better than its cousins and competitors.
If any other Platform better than Nest arrives , I hope , Zerodha will be one among the front runner to offer us that platform.
So remember , with any broker you get Nest and if nest not working you call that broker . But if Nest plus features not working that broker can do nothing .Only Nest team alone can solve it .
So stop bashing Zerodha

Looking at the complexities , I am better off trading with NOW and would opt to migrate to ZTrader in the last batch so that by that time all the initial issues will be solved....I am in no hurry to migrate.

if the heading of the two can be hidden then u cant differentiate between NOW and NEST Trader. both are built same. only minor differences are there which will not affect ur trading in Nest Trader.

so u can migrate to nest Trader without any problem. ( i am using it for last 1 year and its flawless as NOW)

There are plenty of software available. Spideriris is one such. Search around and you will find plenty. Point is if you are daytrader and trade index normally then you don't need to waste money. Such software are best for postional stock trading. I saw a thread here on TJ by a gentleman called josh who has programmed excel files to import RT data from odin and now onto Ami. I tried it. Great stuff. Very nice and easy. One can have OI etc all fields imported in excel. And if some of you can write an AFL to graphically display this data then you got it for free what would cost you good deal of money. Don't go fancy use only what you need. I used to scalp index a while back. Never needed any fancy charting software. Spot 5 min chart on yahoo finance was good enough for me.
bytheway you people are getting it all wrong! That Ctlr+F thing in my previous post was just an example! It is a Microsoft Office command used in Word, Excel etc! It is not a universal command that will bring the same resulting effect in databases, NOW etc!! :)

@bestnifty
Yes sir you are right. NSE does not approve metastock kind of trading platform in india. Reason is they don't want to increase common man's winning odds. But that is another topic. Anyway I do not know about your IT skills but I know mine. So according to them Nest is a con job. Substandard through out. Written by people who are braindead, colourblind. Personally if I had a software development company I won't hire them even for peon's job. And as far as doing unwarranted compromise is concerned sir then you are most welcome to do that. But don't advice others to have sab chalta hai kind of attitude as you seem to be having. 'If nest features are not working then broker can do nothing' you write. If tomorrow I go and buy a Sony TV from a dealer's shop and if something goes wrong the next day or I need some information on it, will I accept if the dealer says 'go to Sony people I can't do nothing about it'? Are you in your good senses sir or paid by zerodha people to speak nonsense like that? By the way when it comes to bashing of zerodha and you being its defender, I couldn't care less of existance of either.
Anyway I don't have much time to go on about this anymore. So I take leave of this thread.

Goodbye to all of you.

Oh !! Surely You are absolutely right :clapping:. I just shared with megapixel the link about this highly priced software. It was just my guess about the sophisticated thing mentioned in the earlier thread about which megapixel inquired. . This is just a charting software so in the end we do need a trading platform which is available to us Indian Traders as of now, which are already named by you and fellow traderji members .

Regards.

NOW is excellent for order execution and RT data.

Hi Sachin/Zerodha

Once in your post you had mentioned that there will be default two days data in NEST with option of 30 days data to speed up the terminal. please update whether that has been implemented..
