Never mind, the next good possibility comes soon. :) Enjoy your weekend, analyze what can be improved and what went wrong and here we go again. :thumb:

I also made a mistake today by not having the patient to wait for my pre calculated entry and get stopped out. I know what I did wrong, so patiently waited for the next entry level and this time it is ok. Shorted Mini S&P 500 at a level at 1752.50 and have a look at where we are now :). So mistakes are part of the business.

Take care / DanPickUp
Hi Dan bro,

How are you, seeing you after a long time.. :)
Nice to know that you recovered your loss in the next trade. For me also, the lack of patience gave the early entry and then loss. And yes, you told it correctly -

" analyze what can be improved and what went wrong and here we go again."

I have learned a lot of things from you, Keep visiting.. :)

Hello All,

I have a little problem here on keeping updates on my trading logs. I want to know how everyone else store their daily trade logs ??

I have been using an excel sheet to keep my trade logs, with columns as
Date, Contract, Trade Type, Entry Time, Entry Price, Lot Size, Exit Time, Exit Price etc..

The problem I am facing with this, lets say I entered NF with 2 lots at once. but exited 1 lot at target 1 and exited the second at target 2. So in this case shall I record the Exit Price as the average price between my two exits ?? Else if I am making a second entry in my table then the second one is missing the entry price. And in that case it will be counted as 2 trades for the day, where I have done a single trade. So I am real confused here.

I am thinking of making an excel - Access driven application to store them in Access DB, but that will need some time, and I want to keep it simple. So just want to know how others handle this ??

Heck, I just write down the closing balance. I guess this analysis is what kabir was looking for in his thread.

I make 2 entries , even though it is a single trade. And later on enter the exit price for each one with the respective details.

Hi Taiki,

Have been following your thread since few days, and i must say great going bud! A very informative thread.:)
Now coming to your query, be it two lots or ten, you have to record the average price as exit price for that particular trade. Atleast this is what i do and as per my knowledge this is the right way of doing it as we consider it as single trade. I too use Date, Contract, Trade Type, Entry Time, Entry Price, Lot Size, Exit Time, Exit Price as criteria to record my trades. There is a software called Market System Analyzer by Adaptrade which I use for this purpose and also for my statistical analysis. They offer a 15 day trial too. You can check them out.

Hope that solves your query.
Thanks.:)
Phantom.

PS: I am in no way associated with Adaptrade and that was just a personal recommendation.

Hello Phantom

Thank you for the tips, One question though, What exit time do you use in the case of averaging down the exit price ??

Hi Taiki,
I have few questions.
It has been almost 5 months since you became a full time trader.
What is the monthly income you are earning?
Did you ever regret leaving your job?
Just curious to know...

Hi Hareesh,

Yeah it is almost 5 months now. Month wise, June series was the beginning to me, but that month I tried several things, with no proper defined system, I was down by 3% that month. July and August series I stayed breakeven, September series was good to me, got almost 16% of my trading capital, and this October series I am in 13% profit so far.

Lot of things have changed ever since I left my job, but so far no I have not regretted for leaving my job, have not got time for such things, because this task that I am doing now is much more challenging and demanding than my prev. job and I am loving it :).

Yeah sometime others loose their head about me and I have asked myself If i have done anything wrong !!! but I tell myself - 'A boat is safe in the harbour, but that is not the purpose of the boat.' :)
