Hello Floyd,

If you have followed the steps given on GetBhavCopy's site regarding how to import data into AmiBroker correctly then you should not get any error while importing the data into AmiBroker. Are you getting any error message ? If not, data is already imported into AmiBroker. You then have to select the symbol from Symbols window (menu View>>Symbols) by expanding all tab (double-click to open it) and you will see corresponding chart on right hand side.

Regarding download destination for GetBhavCopy, you have to simply select the same from the 'Options' tab in GetBhavCopy application. Then click on 'Save' button displayed at the bottom. Once done, the data will be imported in the directory specified by you by GetBhavCopy when you click on the download button.

Edit : 3 days data is sufficient to display daily bars in AmiBroker. For trial, you may download 5 days data and see it everything works fine.

Thanks for your response. No issues regarding the database. I am able to download the database from GetBhavCopy without any issues. Also, have setup the new database as per the instructions given by you and Hemen in GetBhavCopy. Lastly, have done the necessary import through the File-ImportASCII Wizard.

But even after doing the above - the Symbols & All are showing as blank by default.

I had created Symbol-New-NSE (Ticker) and then was getting the previous error of blank bars for 3 days.

By default i cannot see anything in the Symbols-All (there is no plus sign for expansion) - Do i need to do something for setting up Amibroker to get this option or am i doing anything wrong.

Hi Abhay

I think i have managed to get through it. After doing everything above i tried the following :-

File---Import Wizard ---- (Select Files to Import) Pick Files & Followed this wizard till i reached finish.

After doing the above - I am now able to see the EOD charts in Amibroker.

I hope i have been doing the right things/steps. (This is not mentioned on the website of Hemen in the steps for working with database in Amibroker)

Hello,

I hope you are checking by selecting the self-drawn studies first (lines, Fibonacci, text, etc.) and then right-clicking them. Properties is meant for them only and not for chart. Right-clicking on Charts alone shows Properties option disabled. For viewing chart properties, go to Parameters.

If this still does not resolve your issues, give me the details as asked in previous mail.

Sir is it possible to migrate an amibroker database to metastock or is there any tool/software which automates importing metastock eod data.
Also,another query that i have is i have a database for intra day data and it is huge.This i feel is having a toll on the memory each time i try to load the database,can you please suggest me a solution for this as well...

Hello,

To import MetaStock data into AmiBroker automatically everytime data is added, you can use MetaStock Plug-in given with AmiBroker. Read User Guide for more help.

For memory related issues, check Tools>>Preferences>>Data tab; particularly, check In-memory cache (max. symbols), In-memory cache (max. MegaBytes), Number of bars to load. Also check User Guide as some of the settings have lower priority than 'per-database' settings. Also, do check yor AFL time from Tools>>Preferences>>Misc. (display chart timings) to know if database size or poorly written AFL is the cause of memory related issues. Formula Editor also pin-points the time taken by each function used in your AFL which will further help you to minimise the delays. As such, you should not face any problem with increasing no. of symbols / data.
