Hi,
In Derivatives > Futures, what happens to all the open position at end of the contract expiry? If the short position do not get clossed, what happens/vis-a-vis if long position doesn't get closed what happens?

At the expiry of the futures contract ,all open positions are settled in cash with the spot price of the particular security. However recently the option is given to even take delivery of the underlying (security).

Can i have one demat linked to two trading accounts?
i.e, can i buy a share in India bulls and sell it through India info line?:!
As long as you wait for the T+3 th day for the security to be credited to your account, you can sell it fron India Infoline trading account.
There are a couple of issues involved here though.
Though it is possible to have a demat account linked to a trading account of anoher broker most brokers are reluctant to offer this except i heard Angel broking.
Another issue Angel broking and Sharekhan have added a new charge called inter settlement for crediting delivery shares into the demat account. So go ahead but you may have to bear this charge.
Of course opening a trading account at another broker enables you to test the brokers services.

do you think that it is a good idea to buy over valued stock even if it is against a value investor's good judgement? i would love your opinion on this matter
Yes its called growth strategy. Some shares like Nestle and GSK Consumer are well known and though have a higher PE multiple grow still further and command a price premium over the competitors due to established business, higher dividend record, sustainable earnings prospects etc.

Dear all,

I am a newbie to intra-day trading. I have a query.

1) I do not have any shares of company "XYZ". But expecting that stock will go up, I place an "SELL" order for 100 shares @ Rs. 100/-
This order is executed.

2) Now, I need to square off above position. So, I place an order for "BUY" 100 shares @Rs.95/-

Now, stock price can go up or down.

Case1: Stock end price is 90 -> BUY order will be executed. I make profit of 5*100 = Rs.500/ - brokerage. Is my understanding correct?

Case 1: Stock end price is 105 -> BUY order will not be executed. What will happen in this case? Do I lose money? If so, how much? Can some one explain in detail pls?

Thank you.

Help me help my parents...

They have about 80 lakhs to invest. Father's age 70 , mother 60.
What combination of investment portfolio should they have so there
is some allocation for growth and some for income. I guess the focus will
be on a larger monthly income and lesser allocation for growth.

Please advice.

Hi !!

In Options trade , what is the big difference between buying two relatively similar call options .

Example :

Suppose Currently the Nifty is @ 4950 levels and considering it will go up , What will be the differnece in my earnings ratio ,

If I buy 1 lot of Nifty 5000 CE call @ 125.00 and
If I buy 1 lot of Nifty 5100 CE call @ 50.00

Both are going to rise as Nifty rises and the profit % will also be similar rite ?? Correct me if iam wrong .

Also can we do a trade in a stock irrespective of the strike price , before the expiry ?

Example ,
If Infy is @ present 2600
I buy 1 lot of Infy 2700 CA @ 10.00
and Sell it @ 15.00 when Infy is @ 2630 . Would tis be profitable to me , as Infy has not yet reached 2700 levels ...

Excuse me , if i have mentioned anything wrong !!
