Brokerage on Quantity or Turnover???

Dear All,

Am a newbie to trading. About to open my first trading account.

Researched a few brokers. I have a qtn:

When a broker says he is charging 0.03% for intraday and 0.3% for delivery, does he charge this on the quantity or on the turnover?

e.g. if i buy 50 shares of Rs. 100 each, my turnover would be Rs. 5000/-

For delivery, will my brokerage be 0.3% of 50 (quantity) or Rs. 5000/- (turnover)

Sorry, if the qtn sounds too naive, but its imp for me to understand.

Hello Akash, charges applied from a broker on your total turnover and not only on quantity. so if you will buy quantity of 50 shares@100=5000Rs will be turnover and Brokerage given on 5000 rs. as u told 0.3% i.e.15 rs.alongwith other tranasation charges applied like STT,TAX ON BROKERAGE,TURNOVER TAX ETC............
So here 15 rs will be exact brokerage given to broker.:thumb:

Hello Fellas,
I am researching this broker "Zerodha" to start trading. Head its name sometimes. People familiar with them, please answer.
They have a Rs.20 brokerage on both legs. What is my trading volume is less than Rs 5000. It means that I have been charged more had I used a broker with 0.3% brokerage.

Support or oppose?

nice thread
------------
Today I earned rs 73 through Angel brokers in NSE
But in my account they showed only rs 31
So they deducted rs 42 as tax

Can anyone explain these charges ??

Nice thread. I am on my learning curve in stocks. One day i had a good profit but was shocked the next day when most of the profits were eaten by brokerage plus other charges. The real mistake was me doing too much transactions. Now i am learning to understand the extra burden of brokerages and extra charges.
