Yr posts make interesting reading ... both the style and the content

Just wondering though ... how u fared in the upheaval May - July this yr

U seem to have starting posting on this site only in July, after the storm. I presume if you were active during May/June, your trading experiences of that period would be v useful in yr current methodology. Anything to share ?

Curiious to know

AGILENT

Hello Agilent

First of all, allow me to thank you for your very kind words.

I would be a liar if I said I did not make a loss during the crash.

Suffice to say, I had been operating the derivatives market totally hedged right from Ferbruary onwards, and the loss I made was miniscule compared to the profits I had accumulated since the entire bull run from Oct 2005.

Before that? ;) that is not counted as the profits were already "digested". :D

In fact, you would have noticed, that sometimes I send out warning signals and suggest readers to hedge. At other times, I am adventurous and go whole hog, like yesterday.

That is my trading style.

Thats what I meant ... when u share your trading techniques, lots others can gain.

So maybe you can elaborate on yr hedging tactics, because, honestly very few of us have the skills or the inclination to do that. And (sadly)wrongly so

Coming from a senior member here, I would consider it a compliment. As far as hedging techniques are concerned, I keep mentioning them, as and when the need arises.

Two basic thumb rules need to be adhered to when hedging. When the volatility is low, buy options, be it calls or puts, depending on the anticipated direction of the market. When volatility is high, sell options.

Apart from that, options trading is a highly skilled technique, which is beyond the scope of this exchange.

Reading books ... Natenberg, Gallacher, McMillan would help.

Daily Nifty Analysis as on 22 Sep 06

These are my personal musings. These are not in any way meant to be trading advise. To view the chart, check this link http://img126.imageshack.us/my.php?image=220906fibretraceandprojlz8.png.
The high of the Nifty is just 10 points away from our objective of 3570, mentioned in my analysis of 18 Sep 06.
Also as mentioned yesterday, bulls would need to adopt some more guts and withstand the bear onslaught. As expected, the bears tried to reach the 3500 levels stops, but today the bulls were stronger. The surprise today was the Bank Nifty, which corrected more than expected. Apart from that, everything still seems to be right on course. In all probability, if the 3570 levels are breached, then we could expect the 3610 level to be reached.
One thing which is noticeable is that the volumes on the Nifty futures are rising when the Index is falling, which should give comfort to bulls.
Please remember, the weekend normally tends to skew things slightly out of shape.

Hi Dusant
I'm watching the 3600 level with great interest. can you tell me, on your posted chart the lines up frmo the low, are they merely trendlines? or some sort of TA?
Thanks in Advance

hello sazza100

I generally tend to connect most significant bottoms and see where the nest swing lows come. It gives a rough idea as to how strong or weak any security is. Gann Fans are something similar, but this is without any astrological mumbo jumbo. However, I have developed a set of algorithms which over years of study, give me a rough idea as to how a security is likely to behave at key points.

Daily Nifty Analysis for 26 Sep 06

These are my personal musings. These are not in any way meant to be trading advise. To view the chart, check the link below.
The Nifty did give us a scare, and for some time, it seemed that our objective of 3570, mentioned in my analysis of 18 Sep 06, and again on Friday, will not be achieved.
Normally, a target is overshot, and this time, the Nifty has come out of a two day sideways consolidation pattern. Therefore, in all probability, this time too, the target of 3570 will be overshot handsomely.
After all, the 3610 target is not far away. And the way the Nifty is behaving, it looks like even this 3610 target will be overshot handsomely.
Obviously it may not be one way. But brace yourself for a nice ride.
