‘Doctors prescribing non-ayurvedic medicines are anti-national’ - BJP Minister Shripad Yesso Naik

(One more category of people, doctors in this case, going about their daily lives are now termed 'anti-nationals. Going at this rate, will not be surprised if sometime in future, another 'true patriot' comes out and terms all people availing of allopathic treatment instead of ayurvedic as 'anti-national. The supposedly 'patrotic' minsiter who made these senseless remarks himself forgot that he was admitted to govt. hospital, in Ponda, Goa for blood pressure. Wonder why he did not go and get himself checked out with some ayurvedic doctor? :lol::lol::lol: Ironic indeed!)

AYUSH minister Shripad Yesso Naik on Saturday said doctors prescribing non-ayurvedic medicines are "anti-nationals". "Some ayurveda practitioners have told me that doctors prescribing allopathy medicines often advise patients not to opt for ayurveda. Such doctors are anti-nationals," said Naik, who was in the city for the inauguration of an ayurveda research centre.

"Ayurveda is one of the oldest medical systems in the world and we should be proud of it. How can anyone oppose ayurveda when the whole world is showing interest in it and trying to find remedies of diseases that modern medical science cannot?" Naik said.

If you read the whole speech, you will find that he has spoken this about the Ayurvedic doctors speaking against Ayurveda. That is wrong anyway, also illegal. Some time ago the Supreme Court had barred the doctors prescribing medicines from the other pathies than the ones they are trained in, unless under some guidance (e.g. from some University for research purposes etc.).

Sir,

none of the politicians who are vociferously proponent of reservation go to the doctors passing out from reservation quota. They just fly out to USA in the better interest of the nation.

yes, all politicians should be encouraged by govt to use homeopathy, ayurveda, naturopathy, unani etc etc for their health issues. Not just cough cold indigestion - but for all. Also do yoga-pranayam to become disease free itself, no need for doctors anymore. Leaders should lead by example. This is patriotic, this is in interest of nation building ...

Instead of encouraging fact based research, we get a lots of rhetoric - its sad that politicians and public can be so mad.

Before i hurt any sentiments, i don't deny that some things in above are good and i am no expert. Some jadibutti do work ( but many others dont ), yoga is good/great (although i prefer to walk/run) - but will it make you disease free ? People have an unnecessary anti-west old-knowledge-is-gold mindset ..

I wonder once Baba Ramdev used to say that those who skip Hindi & use English are not true patriots. Very conservative in his speeches used to bash English a lot. English seemed to be not a language but a criminal.

Now once he has joined the likes of big corporates , his stance has changed & he now has wonderful words for English and now he praises the online world as well, once regarded a black hole by him.

The minister should take cue from Baba that once the horizon increases the views should also be more friendly... :lol:
