A response to the question : How is India changing under Modi Government? - Rajul Kakkattil

https://www.quora.com/How-is-India-changing-under-Modi-Government/answer/Rajul-Kakkattil

My wife was working in on of the nationalized banks in Kerala. I am working in Bangalore. She was trying for a transfer to Bangalore by whichever possible way she could. It included calling all Union leaders and begging them for transfer, calling all higher authorities of bank like AGM, DGM, etc. We waited almost around 1 year. Nothing worked out. Every time, they had one or the other reasons to tell her. We were so disappointed and I had no other way other than doing biweekly up and down from Bangalore to Kerala.

By listening to my misery, one of my colleague informed me about one website where we can interact with prime minister (Interact with PM). He asked me to give a try.

And one fine day, I opened the website and wrote a detailed complaint about the transfer issue. Days passed. I did not get any reply. Thinking that this effort also went in vain, I lost the hope. After 2 months, my wife called me and asked if I had given some complaint about the transfer issues. She was not aware of what I did. I told her about the complaint i lodged to PM. Then she said that her branch manager got a call from Prime Minister office, asking about the complaint I raised. I was totally surprised..!!

Within next 1 month, her transfer order came. Within this one month, the Manager called my twice and updated the progress about the transfer. Finally after the transfer happened, he again called me and requested to send an email to him, which says that my issue is resolved. I never expected that one small action from me would change the things so soon. I was so happy that we have a PM who can hear these kind of small issues from common people..

We are happily living in Bangalore now. Thank a million Mr. Prime Minister.. :)

(On a lighter note, wondering, if we as traders can complaint to PMO of small traders being shortchanged, as HFT firms are given preferential treatment (by server co-location etc) at the cost and at a detriment to smaller traders) :):):)

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Our country does not need such people, and for us, it is better that they have gone to a country where their eyes will be opened to reality soon... Feel bad for the children though. They will suffer for the fault of their parents.....

In today's world the religious idealogy is becomming a brainwashing tool for extreme elements to misguide and mislead people - across all religions... and unfortunately, we will find fanatics among all - be it Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Jews etc.... The sad part is that even the so called 'educated' people are a prey to this kind of fanaticism.... and the worst thing about this is, the more educated a person is, the more he/she will use religion or religious books to justify his/her thinking (or the lack of it)

How can people be so gullible? If I follow a religion for e.g of Wah-Hoo-Mather, who says (naturally) that he is the only true god, and to go to heaven, we must follow what he says, and the rest who do not follow him, will be punished and go to hell!!! How can any person with a logical mind believe in such a deity? Is God not supposed to be wise, kind, loving... having attributes of a true 'father'? :(:(:(

Sadly, millions of people across the world believe in their own version of 'Wah-Hoo-Mather' and create artificial walls and boundaries that divide people against people, brother against brother and man against man... When will the madness end???

ISIS recruitment: 15 including women and children go missing from Kerala  missing persons include a doctor couple, and four BTech graduates.

Although the story is positive but it has a dark side too. This is clearly indicating that the govt. is not working in a delegated manner but the power is being concentrated in the central authority. This is actually not a good sign of healthy democracy. The picture painted is not of a top down flow of hierarchical decentralisation but instead keep the reins at the helm. Good leader knows best to delegate rather than taking over everything.

Thanks to DSM for posting that piece, and thanks to Leioid to being out the reality. What it seems is that issue was probed alright but nothing was fixed.. it seemed to be 1 exceptional case which was fixed, leaving the system same as it was, in fact it helps nobody as a transfer from Bangalore back to Kerela would again not happen except via the PM's office. :)

Dear DSM,

You are absolutely correct that Retailer is being shortchanged due to HFT. However whenever this matter comes up, they somehow come up with some research based info about liquidity and market making which finally keeps the laws favouring HFTs.

HFT's in no way help the economy to grow.. they keep saying that helps liquidity with FII's etc.. some broker say that they will pay you some amount in case volumes are very high.. that exactly what all retailers are paying for.. "Transaction charges" .. which I'm sure you have seen in your contract note.

So basically retail traders pays these charges for the benefit of few bigwigs who .. as you mentioned.. are shortchanging the retail public.

There is a new exchange idea has recently came up in USA.
Named IEX stands for Investors Exchange.
Their website is iextrading dot com

Their idea is simple every order will have to go through a halt ( artificial delay of 350 microseconds) to deny any advantage to HFT traders.

They are saying all investors are fleeced by HFT so they want to built a exchange where investors interest are taken care off thus the name Investors Exchange.

The existing exchanges are fearful and lobbied hard to deny them their license but they are pushing through.

Will be interesting to see how they much market share they can capture.

Interesting to note their fee will be slightly higher than the existing exchange because of the different model they operate in.

EDIT

The SEC approved the IEX to be an official exchange on June 17, 2016

Their current market share is 1.6%

These are the main differentiation from the existing exchange in us

Publishing the matching rules used in the dark pool's computerized order matching engine.
Offering a limited number of simple and familiar order types.
Charging fixed fees on most orders (or a flat percentage rate on small orders).
Ensuring market pricing data arrives at external points of presence simultaneously.
Slightly delaying market pricing data to all customers (no colocation).
Refusing to pay for order flow.

So maybe the spikes will happen 300ms after the orders are placed.

But it's an idea. Let's see how it pans out.
