True... Just the fact that P.V Sidhu or Sakshi Malik won, people are talking about how great they are.... What if they were to miss out while competing with equally talented, dedicated athletes and missed winning the medal? They would be ridiculed and forgotten in no time.... Critics were already panning the athletes till the time before they won anything. Shoba De went far as to troll the Indian athletes, saying 'Selfies lo. Khaali haat wapas aao. What a waste of money and opportunity'
Was reading about the stuff that goes into making of a champion. Here's what H.T article profiling the training regiment :
http://www.hindustantimes.com/olymp...io-olympics/story-n2EbXacHdWPxiEfgrdUZBP.html
* Uses as many as a thousand shuttles per session (3 sessions per day) - While during the Olympic final, only 25 shuttles were used.
* Around 11 am another session for 1 1/2 hours, and in between this, and before which there is a group session.
* 100 push-ups and 200 sit-ups a day with different variations (seven to eight) of exercises that activate the core and abdominal muscles. This amounts to 600 pushups and 2400 abdominal exercises each week.
* Blood test every two months to tweak the nutrition and supplements requirements to compensate for any deficiencies.
* Two to three sets of ten 400m runs or one 2.4 km run. Some days, a 10 km run. To keep the training varied and avoid the body getting into a routing and stop growing.
* Ban on junk food, sweets, and sugar, including ice cream.
* At night yoga and light fitness routines.
* Changing from veg to Non veg diet (includes Saina Nehwal)
* Family making sacrifices and adjustments, including changing place of residence....
And winning an the Olympic medal, is a part of the journey... so the hard work, focus, dedication and sacrifices have to continues... The athletes cannot rest on past laurels, or it will take a few newer generation of athletes to replace the winners in less than a year or two.... P.V Sidhu is just 21 years of age, and her coach has chalked out further training to improve at least 20% in strength, endurance, balance…. Hopefully, this is just a beginng of a long journey.... And hopefully, a gold in Tokyo 2020.
Ya.. nobody will give credit to the hard work they put in to achieve the medal.
only caste is imp. :annoyed:
