I disagree. I would advice none or very very light positions, if at all. I think that buying deep OTM options will not prove very useful.
Big money is always made on such events....we must make sure that we dont get into big losses, so have positions with proper MM and controlled risks....IVs are high but they are not so much that the move in whichever direction will not make money for the buyers.

Deep out of money to be profitable or not is a function of the extent of the move.

I was fortunate to be holding long strangle in 2009 elections ( and had posted it in TJ in real time) and that trade made good money.

It would be wilder than making money on Banknifty on RBI policy days :)

Nifty strangle is currently at ~500 points. Should I go for a long strangle?

What would you make thinking to not go for a strangle in your home market at this moment? :)

Will need a 500 point move in either direction to be profitable. Not sure if past performance can be repeated. If market does not move much, considering at least a 10 point volatility drop, I will lose about 150 points.

Dow up 61 points (Pending Home Sales was very positive). Maybe it holds until closing. Any body trading the Dow Cow in this thread beside Nifty during the day?
