Reliance Netconnect ( USB dongle connection ) speed tested today morning gives following :

Download Speed ....1.2Mbps

Upload Speed ......0.75 Mbps

ping 57 ms

Looks ok for charting and trading application.

A lot of discussions are going on regarding fancy internet speeds quoting upto 16MBps....

Friends, consider once again....Do we really need that much of speed for just our needs.

As a trader we only need to download tick data in real time. And for that even 1Mbps is far more than sufficient. (Provided it is reliable and consistent)


take care and don't run for the fancy download plans......

No software . did it on the speedtest website ... had a 2 mbps MTNL line earlier, shifted to their 8mbps plan ...and now finally this.

Which website is that ? I tested on www.speedtest.net and got the following results.

Of course, one disadvantage of living in smaller cities is that we don't have a direct satellite link, out internet comes over leased line from Mumbai, so the speeds are lower here. You notice that even while testing from surat, it uses Hathway Mumbai server. But still, which website did you use.
