Dear ST Da
thanks for your sharing & help us at every step of our trading journey..
as you mentioned market will be good for investors for long term horizon..whats ur views about..how market will be for swing trader( horizon for 1 day to 1 week) ..I mean from last year may2013..market gave good range & trending environment for swing traders ..will it be continue? Will those market will be good for swing traders & intraday tradrs also?
no body can give us better answer of this..as u have been in markets more than decades & u have seen all market cycles..so u can better guide us
Regards
In my view next 5 years will be a best period for swing traders and daytraders. We will get bouts of expansion and contraction of range but overall we will have a very good range to trade.

We will have good up as well as down moves to trade....

Does this apply to Algo's and FII's ,with unknown spikes much above and below the range ?

Or it applies only to retail traders?

..I am a very risk averse trader and I play great defence....so market gives me what I want...I will NEVER have 60% and 100% or 300 % returns in a month...but I will have 8-15 % every month...month after month....and never have a loosing week, loosing month....though I have very few loosing days in a month...

ST Da/Dan/Seniors,

Please answer whenever you have time.

1. If you also daytrade, how do you filter trades that you need to enter and leave out? The reason I ask this question is, if one trades on 3/5 mins tf, there will invariably be a lot of entries. And when you say defensive, I assume you will have tight stops.

2. I see sometimes trailing stops is better and sometimes having targets is better, how do we find a balance or stick to one or use appropriate one's at specific time?

3. Did you ever go through a phase like this? I am clear that everytrader is different and each will have to find their own answer, else market could not exist.
