@Smart_trade he probably is the only one who is still active who has seen it and traded it. i remember the panic of that time . . Market shutting down and govt issuing statement one after another. it was chaos. ST da will be able to tell it better.

I guess TP sir was active that time also.
I guess have seen him here on TJ in 2008.
I joined TJ somewhere in 2017 last half. My ID was different that time.. later i lost ID pass also,
I have seen all 2008 action on my PC all lower circuits bounce--October panic selling and 2009 UC's also.
But that time Experience was minimal. Options ka chaska laga tha. many many loosing trades and some winning trades was the story,

It was my 3rd year in the markets back then in 2008. But i was not into options. I used to trade nifty vs midcap stock baskets.

i never looked beyond a list of specific stocks that time ( and in fact,and also I was not knowing the meaning of "liquidity"-that time.

but few of my investor friends have shares (bot on advice of broker) still not sold as unka buy price phir kabhi aaya hi nahi. bahut investor ka paisa doob gaya aur phir wo share market mein laut ke nahi aaye tauba tauba........

I was very active then. But not as a day trader or even in FnO. I was an investor then. I not only saw the crash in the stock market but also saw a great deal of pain in my job. I saw some of the biggest trading house of this world bite dust. Jobs lost, assets sold, commodity markets crash etc etc. I remember some of the cargoes i had personally sold went down the drain. Trading companies that had bought commodities from us had their LCs revoked by banks. Ships were willing to carry cargoes for free because they wanted to deliver the vessel to the buyer after selling their ship for peanuts. Hundreds of bulk carriers and oil tankers were laid up in singapore for want of cargo. The baltic index crashed from 13000 something to 600.

But in every crisis, there is an opportunity. Stocks were so cheap(only in hindsight) If one invested then in 2008, he/she would have been a millionaire. why anyone? If i had held on to some of the stocks I bought in 2008, I would have been a very wealthy(not rich) man today. Sab kismat ki baat hai par.

PS: I have been active in the market since 1997-98 as an investor. Began trading sometime in 2010(?). Full time trader since 2011.

How was the 2011, 2012 and 2013 as trader as market was stuck and there was a lot of volatility.
