Been in the market since 2011 and actively since 2013. Also my family and relatives have been into trading ,so have seen firsthand the drama of 08
These events are the ultimate trial by fire in a trader's life.
How many of you were in the market when in august 2015 vicious sell off happened ?

Right hand up here.
Were you in the market when the butchery/slaughtering happened in 2008??
Nope in 2008 since I was out then because I blew my account in Nov of 2007 in options by averaging it.Did not know that Greeks kind of things existed then. Well in 2015 I was out because I had blown another account in 2013. Active only since Sep 2016. From then till today not missed(watching) a single 5 min candle intraday (yes even with my fulltime job :p.

How was the 2011, 2012 and 2013 as trader as market was stuck and there was a lot of volatility.
Markets then were trading between 6300 and 4500. But then the markets offered great opportunities for traders. After all 4500 to 6300 is not a small range. There was some volatility and noise due to QE etc. Every time Ben Bernanke said something on TV, the markets would react. Looking back, I would say there were normal bouts of Volatility that we experience. Back then, I didn't even know or care for this word. Nifty lot was 50 and BN was 75 if I remember well. I was mostly trading stock futures and trying my hand at winning lotteries by trading options.. In my first year, I lost my chaddi, baniyan, lungi.. lock, stock and barrel. Shifting from an investing mindset to day trading mindset was very difficult.

We also used to have mini nifty. But there was not much liquidity in it.back then Sebi again wanted to protect the retail investor thus removed it.
