Dear Karthik,

Gateway Distriparks Limited has informed the Exchange that the Company has successfully raised US $ 76.50 million through the issue of 15 million GDRs (excluding the greenshoe). Each GDR was priced at $5.10 (Rs.235.16) and represents one underlying share and will be listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. The GDRs were placed through a book building exercise. Citigroup and CLSA acted as bookrunners and Joint lead managers on this transaction. The proceeds of the issue will be used to fund the growth of the Company.

What could be the impact of this on the share price here. CMP 269.

Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Ashish
Dear Ashish

The positive aspect of this GDR is that the company can reduce the debt burden and also it gets the funds for the planned expansions in Kochi and Tuticorin ports.

On the negative side this would affect the earning per share which would reflect on the price. Also the fluctuations in the GDR prices would reflect on domestic prices.

The company is very well positioned as the largest private port related logistics service provider. Considering the emphasis on Infrastructure developemnt which includes the ports and growing economy the prospectus of the company for the next few years looks quite promising. The comapny also sems to gearing up with expansion plans to meet increasing demand for the logistics services.

best regards

Dear Karthik,

What is your opinion on Geometric as a long term investment. where do you expect that to be in the next 6 months/1year.

Thanks
Hi Kitikee

Where will be Geometric in the next 6 months/1year. Difficult question my friend. It depends on lot of things, mainly the market itself. If a bearish phase comes it will take down all the stock however fundamantally good they are.

But the Geometric by itself is a good company. I see very good growth prospects for this one. They are into the product clifecycle management PLM packages. They have created a nice space for themselves in this area. Also many delayed projects because of which they had downgraded their earning forcast have started. They are expecting good growth from the industrial sector which was not very encouraging before. It is a definite long term story.
If the good market conditions prevails we could see 160 to 200.

Best regards

Karthik

Dear karthik
I would like to thank you for all yr effort in replies in details and explanations, and believe me i am learning a lot from yr thread.

my friend re: M.A. and M.A. Crossover what is the period u suggest for the two averages, i.e short term average and long term average, specially for short term trader.

thks
gopii

Dear gopii

I appreciate your kind words my friend. The choice of MA periods vary from person to person. Initially I was using 5,20,50 (50 for long term) a combination which is widely used. The logic being 5 sesions would represent a week and 20 would represent a month. Then later I found 3,13,39 suited me better. 3 would represent about half wek and 13 a fortnight

There is no ideal MA period. You can experiment with different logical combinations and find out which suits your style of analysis. 3,13 seems adequate for short term.

Dear Harmads

Yes, I will check about these ones. Long term picks need some detailed research. I will do it over the weekend. Short term picks seems much easier to do

Dear Anil

Here is my view on your stocks

Uco Bank

Ohhh.. This one looks miserable on the chart. After the second quarter results were announced this once never really looked up. Though the total income increased by 20% the net profit decreased to 50% compared to the same period the previous period.
The chart looks quite bearish. Presently at 24.8. There is some support around 24. Below that would be 22. Beyond this it would tumble down to below 20. Presently below its medium and long term MA. Currently there is some consolidation and the stock could go for more pronounced move. The overall bias is bearish and for this the probability of move could be downward. Looks like only the next quarter result can rescue this one (if it is going to be positive). It is disheartening to say that the prudent thing would be to exit at next possible rallies.

karthik
Dear Anil

Did you notice that UCOBANK has made some positive moves in the last two sessions. Good volume has also come in. Anyway most banking stocks did well in the last two sessions. Watch this one. May be it will provide good oppurtunity to exit.

Thanks a ton Karthik for your opinion on M&M and TISCO.

In this bull run I have done what needs to be done.. SELL !! To consolidate I must use the funds available on good picks.. I would appreciate if you could give your judgement on following scrips and wether they are undervalued and would appreciate in next one year :

1. TATA TELESERVICES
2. AVAYA GLOBLE
3. VSNL
4. TATA CHEMICALS

Besides I would also appreciate if you could give your own list of good picks for long term at this time of bull run.

Best regards
Dear Harmads

Sorry for the delay , my friend. Anyway due to time constraints this is going to be in installments :)

Let us start with Tata Chemicals

It is a good long-term investment pick. Of course one cannot expect spectacular growth. However it will be a decent growth story.

The favorable aspects are as follows

  • Tata Chemicals manufactures fertilisers, soda ash, other inorganic chemicals, and cement. The fertiliser business accounts for 66 % of its revenues and the inorganic chemicals business (comprising soda ash, branded salt, cement and sodium triopolyphosphate) accounted 34 % .
  • Strong business profile, diversified revenue stream, wide market base and comfortable financial ratios.
  • Capacity Expansion Planned for Soda Ash up to 1.15m tones
  • Market share for salt is at 33%. Has launched new brands in the gulf and Singapore
  • In may this year acquired 33% stake in a Moroccan company Maroc Phosphore SA.
  • Recently acquired majority stake in UK based chemical company Brunner Mond. This company has soda ash plants in UK, Kenya and Netherlands. This company has a good position in the global soda ash market. This will help Tata chemical to be a major global player in the soda ash market.

Hope you will find this useful.
