Hi all

Just checked up on separate computer.
I patched core and Db using links from Green download link in previous post. It worked and hope it works for you as well.

hi Pankaj
I am still not getting it.I have also used the exe (v2.2.5) and the sqlUpdate file.I am attaching two files
1) Bankex.csv.txt - from WL_DAILY folder
2) Bankex.txt - from Indices folder
the date put was 1st July 2008(ie yesterday). The WL_DAILY folder has Sensex(BSE30.csv)(22 indices) but the txt does not have BSE30 in it(21 indices).
My system date is in dd/mm/yyyy format .

Hi rpc
At least now you are getting the output file. So we can do further verification.
I checked up. I am not able to replicate the errors pointed out by you.Output in your file is quite strange . Just to be on safer side why don't you uninstall and reinstall the whole thing and check again.

I also request other users , if any, to indicate in case they are getting similar problems or if there is no critical problem in its operation.

Hi darsh

First step is to download data for the desired period till date.
NSE:
1. EOD data
2. Delivery Data
3. Indices Data
4.IndiaVix

(NSE Yield data is optional)
BSE:
1.EOD
2.Delivery Data
3.Indices Data

Then go to Convert.

Select Exchange If you want to use files then Uncheck the Option use database.
If you select USe database option then All indices and Indiavix will be included in the output file for NSE. Same for BSE.

Unhide Advance Views for Input and output folder. Check if Options prescribed are as per Metastock. i.e. Header as needed for Meta stock .
Mostly default is for Metastock so you may not need to change it.
You can also select if you need Stock wise file as well or only date wise file.
See the output sequence. In right hand box you should have desired field and data in the sequence as they would appear in output.

Mostly , Ticker, date,OHLCV is needed.Other things are optional.

Once you are satisfied click Convert.
Data for each date will be converted and stored in Converted folder.

Open metastock and Point to Import option and select files in Converted folder to be imported.

Indices are also seperately stored in Indices folder of respective Exchange. Those files are metastock compatible.

There is another way, if Metastock supportd ODBC databases. Just Point to DSN Name EODDLC and Select EOD_BSE, EOD_NSE , EOD_MCX, EOD_NCDEX tables and import data by selecting relevant fields. Here as and when you add data same will be imported by METASTOCK or AMIBROKER.

There are several other functions which need seperate elaboration.Help file is sorely needed.

AMIBroker also supports this operation.

Hi Pankaj,

Could you elaborate on the difference between Use File & Use database options? And can the database be emptied after the required d/l-s are done?

Also if i choose the datewise files option do i get the the data for all securities in a single file? Will there be separate files for separate dates or all in one? In the current s/w that i use simple (datewise) txt files are generated which i then import to Ami using Ascii import There's no need to convert Can the same be done with EODDLC?

I have kept the index (volumes) update part for the weekend as it'll be quite time consuming. (Also have to find a way to add an addl column - del vol alias open int - to my existing data)

BSE data problems aren't an issue for me as i won't be using the same.

Thanx a ton pk ...

Though ms doesnt use ODBC databases ( as per my best knowledge ) and neither ms can directly import data ( Its a big bug in this ) but the best thing i could do is , it can convert ASCII data into MS format using built in Downloader. I was able to convert securities with the ease of it.

Next , it might be a new querry from me. I'M NOT ABLE TO DOWNLOAD BSE DATA SINCE BEGINING. IF ITS NOT ON THE WEB THEN CAN U PLZ BE KIND ENOUGH TO UPLOAD BSE DATA SINCE 1990 IN ASCII FORMAT WHICH IS COMPITIBLE WITH DAILY BHAVCOPY?

NOT ABLE TO DOWNLOAD BSE INDICES.

EODDlc will output in ASCII format and is compatible to metastock. If Metastock doesn't support ODBC ( as I don't have Metastock) then ASCII is the only way to go. There are plugins which write data to Metastock using Metalib plugin and there are different versions of it priced as high as 400 $. For a free software that is obviously not an alternative.

As for BSE Download. Normal download will give data only from 24th March 2006. But if you want 10 years BSE EOD data for some stocks (limited to 500 in numbers ) then Add stocks to your watch list and Select EOD Daily with Period Specified by you. Data will be downloaded in Metastock Compatible format(No need for further conversion) and will be available in Symbol wise files in DATA\BSE\WL_DAILY folder. You can import each symbol into your Metastock folder.

As for BSE Indices, all are included by default in Watch list and you will get output in WL_DAILY folder. But Direct Indices download try clicking the Download Button again(may be twice) to see if data gets downloaded. You need to have Broadband connection for quick response.

I am also looking into it for any issues that may be there.
