Hi
Complain of not able to download bse indices were investigated. I could not find any problem with the code. What intrigued me is that some time download was quick and sometimes it was coming after few clicks on Download button.
Now I found out that response from BSE server is slow and sometimes some errors are given instead of datafile. May be its due to Load on server or some issues with their ASP.NET files.
I may put in a status note if not datafile is given in http response.
Secon point is for Chintan . To change the names of Indices from ^NSEI to NIFTY you can go to Options >>Database Admin>> NSE Indices Name Change(DB Only) and click. You will get a page which will enable you to change the names.
As regards YMD to other formats I will revert later.
If you are not getting correct volumes for Indices then you have to do two things
1. Update company List for including any new stocks listed after programme was released (ReLINFRA was one) and
2.then update Indices list.
Both options are available in Options>> Stock Functions Menu.
kkseal , sorry for late reply.
Use database uses inbuilt database for converting files.
Using Files means files which are downloaded and stored in Respective exchange folder. Once you convert they will be sent to Backup folders.Using database will not touch these files nor will they be sent to Backup folders.
Options>>Database Admin>>Clear Database option will delete all files in EOD tables of respective folders. You either need to download afresh or Copy all files from Backup>>NSE>>Equities etc folder to corresponding folder then download missing files for BSE or NSE as the case may be.(Not yet for MCX and NCDEX) Similarly Download delivery Data by clicking on the Options>>Download Missing files>> DeliverData for NSE
here you don't need to enter dates. Programme will look for first data available and work forward.
Then goto Update database>>Update NSE EOD, NSE Delivery etc.
Once done you can download Indices for respective period ranges.
Datewise option is default. You will get all EOD data and indices for each datewise file.
txt files can be generated in a fixed format programme. But in EODDlc format is not kept fixed and user decides what sequence he wants and what data he wants. Whether Header is needed or not. Further adding delivery data and calculation of volumes ,delivery details for indices is done while downloading so conversion part is kept separate else it will become another run of the mill EOD downloaders which is not too difficult.
However defaults are set based on user choices and once that is done. user need not visit advance pages again. Just click download relevant data and then convert.
If you point to Converted folder of respective files you will be able to import data to AMI and MetaStock
AMI and Fcharts provides for ODBC data source import option. So you can configure them to use EOD_NSE and EOD_BSE .
For that either select EODDLc (it is created during installation) as System DSN in ODBC Dialog box and select fields you want to import or you can create your DSN which will bind to database. Once done, databse will be imported into AMI or FC, provided you have paid version of these softwares(which saves data) It may also monitor DB for changes. That means if you download fresh data they will get imported without user intervention.
To properly use this programme, you can do bulk download/Convert for a period and then daily downloads will not take much time depending on Computer configuration and Internet Bandwidth. This will be only incremental.
