Hi,

I have three basic questions to ask about the Fibotrader s/w before I decide whether or not to give it a try :-

1) Does the s/w include a comprehensive Help file where i can find clear step-by-step instructions on how to use a particular feature or perform a particular task (like scanning/filtering, creating Templates, setting stop losses, entry/exit points, data management etc.) without having to ask Soumya or Fibotrader or whoever here at the forum everyday about every little thing i want to do with the s/w (i feel utility of the forum ought to be more about undocumented features, tips & tricks, bug-reporting, suggestion and the like and NOT learning basic functionality That should find place in the documentation itself)

2) How many predefined scans does Fibotrader have? Can they be customised according to ones preferences? Can they be combined to create more sophisticated/complex scans? (To me how good or bad a TA s/w is depends on the flexibility, versatility & ease of use of it's stock scanning/screening/filtering features. No matter how pretty the charts are you cannot possibly wade through 4000 stocks everyday! SWINGTRACKER s/w is the best in this regard but unfortunately no support in India)

3) In most TA s/w in order to create scans/filters, templates of your own you need to use a Formula/Scripting language (what I like most about SWINGTRACKER is the ability to create your own Filters using simple SQL query type commands) Fibotrader is no exception Now is there a comprehensive help file/online resource that will enable me to learn & use this scripting language (which they say is akin to VB with which i'm somewhat familiar)? (I don't think i'll be able to do this by posting questions to Soumya & Fibotrader except begging for some readymade scripts every other day)

In other words I don't want perpetual dependence on others as a cost for using a free software. Soumya's efforts are laudable but a forum is for sharing, exchange of views and not a substitute for proper Documentations & Help files.

Creators, protagonists & users of Fibotrader may please enlighten me.

we inspected your files. To make it short: it is currently simply not possible to import them the way you want. The problem is, there is no column for the contract expiration available, so the program cannot distinguish between the 3 available contract entries and would mix them.

What you should do is to split the files so that the different contract periods are in separate files AND/OR named differently than the others, since they will be saved under the given name or the file name.

The best would be to have files like:

Aluminium0612.csv
Aluminium0701.csv

and so on. In Excel you can select "save as" and then select csv file.

Thanks for your reply. I tried to convert ur method now i can view seperate one product graph in seperate month vice.
But i have total more than 90 product datas in one day bhav copy files. This method i should convert and save 90 seperate .csv file. So pls tell how to split that file simply . Here i attached 3 days datas. can u convert and split that file and can you post here? pls

Really bothering you by asking it, but,
I have long ago downloaded the software, wanted to start my trades from nwe year. But now, found that your quote files, 0, 7 and 8 not opeing probably due to improper download. I tried to re-download, but the fles are deleted from rapidshare.
Can I get the files, please ?
Can any other person visiting the forum provide me the link ?

i am into technical analysis from quite some time...................but am very new to fibotrader...........infact, have been using it for almost a month............and i religiously follow all your posts.......which immensly helps me to better my understanding of fibotrader..........
fibotrader has a good collection of indicators.........very impressive for something absolutely free...........i want to contruct 3 new indicators...............

1. A MOVING AVERAGE CHANNEL (10 DAY SIMPLE MOVING AVERAGE OF THE HIGHS AND 8 DAY SIMPLE MOVING AVERAGE OF THE LOWS) AND I WANT IT TO BE EMBEDDED IN THE PRICE CHART.

2. 10 DAY SIMPLE MOVING AVERAGE OF THE 28 DAY MOMENTUM.

3 10 DAY SIMPLE MOVING AVERAGE OF THE ADX.

I use EOD data files and am into short term swing trading.............

please consider me a layman and write in detail about the process to get the above three indicators constucted.

7. copy the 'Main' file which i have uploaded for your convenience, and
overwright it to Fibotrader--> Data folder.
8. for database copy the 'Quote_0' file and overwright it to Fibotrader-->
Data folder.
i have also uploaded a folder named 'Scripts', download it and overwright it
in Fibotrader folder..it contains indicators, filters.
9. Now u are ready to start your TA.

Just a clarification. What do you mean "copy the Main file and overwrite it to fibo trade--data folder.

Are you asking to copy the file and paste it in the programfiles-fibo trader-data folder. Over write meaning should this be written over the main file that already exists in the data folder. if yes how?

The file in the data folder are MS access format files while your uploads are rar files.

Could you pls explain the process.

it is not possible at this moment bcoz in Fibotrader there is no option in moving average property to select Open,High or Low as a base data other than close.

2. 10 DAY SIMPLE MOVING AVERAGE OF THE 28 DAY MOMENTUM.

first plot Momentim indicator->set the period 28->right click on the Momentum indicator->add moving average

3 10 DAY SIMPLE MOVING AVERAGE OF THE ADX.

same as above.
