Trading from both sides is difficult. It is to be done if the market has large swings and in case of gap down and sharp up/down moves.

This is an old post of mine...I have no idea what was the context of that post....dangerous to follow anything without understanding context in which it is posted.

I think you made a typo on your above post. Having the 7900 put and then selling the same amount of 7600 puts will give you a credit spread and not a debit spread as you must have received more money from the shorts compare to the what you paid for the long 7900 puts. Only if you lost quit a few on the 7900 puts, then may you even got less back with the 7600 puts, and then it would be no typo.

After you toke out some long puts you had this http://www.optionseducation.org/strategies_advanced_concepts/strategies/short_ratio_put_spread.html which is one of your favorite strategies. :)

And just to visualize in a simple way your next step with the long put otm, you then had a risk profile at end which did look like the following but just with other numbers:

Have a nice day / Dan :)
Hi Dan...

Have I used the wrong terminology ? When the nifty was going below 7900 I had bought the 7900 puts and my view was I was not expecting the market to go much below 7600 or max 7500 so I sold 7600 puts. I had to pay more for 7900 puts bought and I got lesser premium by selling 7600 puts resulting into a debit in that trade on the initial position by way of more premium paid on 7900 puts.

Manoj,

What was your logic for going Long ,As per your charts it seems support on 200 MA.

Also could not get your logic for defining Targets.
1. Trading range of 7888 to 7834 and price was near lower side of range.
(In trading range Buy low Sell High).
2. Price near 200 SMA and SMA is rising.
3. There was 3 push down pattern and 3rd push stopped near 200 SMA.
4. There is upward sloping channel and price was at lower side of channel.

These were good enough reasons for me getting long.

Targets are Fibonacci retracements and extension

Is there about 50 points downmove :D
