Now time to be cautious ...the last immediate trigger is President Obama's "Man ki baat " after that no major trigger till budget. But market can still make new highs as the momentum is still strong..

Guy how do you go about doing a scratch trade.
ie at what point do you decided its a wring trade and its better to move out.
Today for me it happened a couple of times that I scratched a trade and it went in my direction later. I am not sure I scratched it out of fear or what. Today I made a loss but some other day I mite save some I am not sure what is a better strategy scratch of let SL be taken out.

A little strange - the week before expiry, generally shows a significant roll-over to the next month/series, but this time, not very significant as yet !!!

In case of Nifty futures, the rollover premium was 55 points today...after coming Tuesday (27th Jan) all immediate triggers are getting over and till budget there is no fresh trigger. So many traders are not rolling over their long Nifty futures position...they would take profits in this series long positions and wait for 50-100 points dip in Feb to build positions for pre-budget rally thus saving on roll-over premium..

Was it intraday ? Which segment ? Did you take 100% position at once or in 2-3 parts ?

Anyway, as a general rule, it's ok to have gotten safely out of a trade than remain in doubt, specially for intraday.

It was intraday in Nifty only 1 lot.

Please pardon me for my foolishness but I am novice in trading.

In intraday, there really is no wrong time to book profits, even if it is simply getting out with your skin intact, it depends on your risk appetite at the moment.

I don't read MACD but maybe it played a role in your exit. I think that you can hold longer if your indicator is trending in your timeframe. I prefer ADX on 3/5 min TF. Not trading nifty, but the basic rule is "don't trade against the ADX". So, if I am with the ADX, I may not mind holding till it crosses 35 on 5 min, and trail the SL. You can work out a similar rule for your favorite indicator(s).
