How to import "Live Feeds" to F Charts through excel.

Hello Murthy sir,
Thanks for your reply...by mistake i have mentioned the old version...i am having the same version of fcharts as mentioned by you (1.5.96U). My operating system is XP Professional Edition with Office 2003 (support pack 3 installed).

I have changed my date setting to YYYY-MM-DD format as suggested by you from regional setting. But still am getting the error.

The exact error is 13: TypeMismatch

Please help.

Dear Karthik,

Please confirm point by point that

1) You are using the latest XL sheet posted by me only and NOT the earlier ones. I f in doubt, download again and try.

2) The date shown in column 'B' of the "Live Data" sheet is like "2009-03-14" only.

3) The time shown in column 'C' of the "Live data" sheet is like "22:29" only.

4) Please post an image of the FCharts 'Live Data' window from your system.

You can make your trials even outside market hours as far as 'TypeMismatch' error is concerned. Of course you cannot see any charting.

The date and time are formatted within the application to be as above. Type mismatch is most likely to occur when one has not assigned the columns (namely, ticker, date, time, close and volume correctly in FCharts 'live Data' window.

For prompt and meaningful response, please ensure that you provide all information while reporting any problem. From this end, I cannot guess on what's going on at your end. Hope you will appreciate.

Thanks for your reply and guidance...
By mistake i said the version is 1.5.96U but it is 1.5.96T...i removed he F Charts older version and installed the Version 1.5.96U and it is working fine now. Thank you so much for your patience and showing interest in solving the problems.

Mistake from my side...the version which i have is 1.5.96T that is the reason i couldnt able to plot the chart. i have downloaded the version 1.5.96U and now can able to plot chart.

Good to know that it is working. I was earlier using 1.5.96T and only recently installed the update. The FC Charting was taking place earlier also.The problem could be something else also.

Today, Luckily, I too got Type mismatch error! That was when internet connection became very slow or lost. At that time, Isaw data fetched only partially and in the rest error was recorded in the cells. That was the reason for the 'TYPE MISMATCH' as the cells are expexted to contain numbers only.

Let us hear feedback from others also.

I could import live feeds through excel today. I think the follwings points are very imortant to get live feeds.
1) Fcharts version-it should be 1.5.96u
2)Proper internet bandwith.
3)fcharts settings and date and time format settings.
I will post an excel file very soon which will give live data in two types of symbols format...YAHOO format symbol like ABB.NS and NSE format symbol like ABB after some testings.

You may try the ODBC plugin under datasource in Amibroker database settings...
IMHO , it may provide some way to feed the data into AMI..

Great, Ranjit, Finally you too could get the charts.

Together, we may take this program to further enhance the user experience.

Some earlier requests:
Fno, as available at NSE site.
Indexes, Junior and may be portfolio sheet also.

If you believe it, I have learnt (Learning) VBA only since a month and that too for a program like this.

Your XL sheet gave me the first practical project.

I have many doubts in VBA, which you and other learnend members of this forum may be able to help.

I am now uploading a version of excel file which includes live data of index(nifty only),and the shares listed in Nifty 50, Jr. nifty 50,Midcap 50.
the symbols are given in NSE symbol format and YAH00 symbol format.only few changes are required in Fcharts settings to get live data into fcharts.one more thing, my knowledge is limited to cut paste only.I learned to operate computer through books just for trading .I do not know how much i can assist you.you are requested to change/modify the new version 1.1 as you may deem fit.your comments will be highly appreciated .

I am sure, you will take this program to great heights.

Aniruddha, who made available this technique by his write-up will be glad when he sees the progress.

I have a few comments.

1) M&M, J&KBANK symbols may not work with yahoo. '&' (Ampersand) interpreted differently by yahoo. Asfar as charting in FC is concerned, there may not be a problem.

2) When you have downloaded 9 Indexes, why only Nifty sent for charting? You may think of adding the other EIGHT also. Only 'S&P CNX NIFTY' is taken. But the spaces within the symbol will be rejected by FC. For the NSE ticker users, you may take the same symbol WITHOUT the spaces and with the prefix '^' or '~' so that tghe indexes are NOT LOST in the croud of around 1200 stocks.

3) In the web query, the option 'Enable Background Refresh' is checked. (by Default).If one has any problems unchecking this option, Net connection may be checked. If connection is slow, this option may have to be unchecked or interval increased.
