Just sharing an incident of today. Being Saturday - decided to take a break and go out for breakfast and then for coffee at a the mall - Just so as to do something different and not sit in front of the screen on Saturday to trade crude or copper :)

While waiting for my breakfast to arrive, I saw a poor couple enter with a small child of maybe 7-8 years. All that they ordered was a plate of idli for the child and nothing for themselves, waiting while the order was served and the child was eating - obviously indulged by the parents who could not afford anything more.

While having ordered for myself, I approached the couple and asked them to order breakfast for themselves and offered pay. There was a big smile on their face and they quickly ordered, ate and left.

The reason I am bringing this up, as I remembered another incident a few years back. While I was working abroad, I came across an article in the newspaper in which it was mentioned that an Indian man had been killed in a car accident. The tragedy was that he left behind his wife (a widow now and a small child of about 6 months) As the couple had taken a big loan and remitted the funds to buy their house in India, the lady was in trouble as she was responsible for repayment of the loan. And as she was without a job, had a child to look after, and was left without income, she could not afford to pay for her expenses, and to top it off, was facing the prospect of jail as she would not be able to repay loan installments.

I spoke to the newspaper, got the contact details of the lady, got the actual facts - it was a genuine case. So I spoke to a couple of my friends, sent a mails with a link to the story, organized a collection, and got a bit of funds. Met the lady again, gave part of the cash, and the other part, went with her to the grocery and got her food and basic necessities.

One of my colleagues I had sent the mail, had forward the mail to his friend - who luckily had a vacancy in his office in an administrative post - to top it off, it was a reputed company, and the boss taking the background of the lady into consideration offered her a good start with generous pay.

As my work was done - I did not contact the lady. After she got the job, I did not receive a call from the her even to say that she was selected for the job, leave aside thanks. That was not an issue. About two weeks later, my colleague who had helped this lady get the job called me aside and told me - The lady had pocked a mobile phone of one of her office mate, and put it in her bag. The whole thing was captured on camera which this lady was not aware of.

After she got the sack, I did receive a call from her - I told her that I did not want to meet her as I could not do anything more. Not sure what happened later.

Sometimes, doing a small thing can bring so much joy. Day such as today, makes it worthwhile... Just sharing.
Well done, DSM, the joy of seeing the poor couple eat breakfast is much more than making a few thousands or even Lakhs in the business/trading.Consider that the God has given you "darshan" in the form of that poor couple.

Hello all Traders,

I want to start F&O trading but before that can any one tell me

What are the various charges in % terms that will be applicable if I trade (Buy and Sell) (Apart from Brokerage)

1> Nifty Future 1 lot
Buy @ 5900
Sell @ 5915

2> Nifty Option 1 lot
Buy 5600 Put @ 40/-
Sell 5600 Put @ 45/-

Above mentioned two different examples are to better understand my issue so that I calculate my cost even before I start my trading.

I request all of you to help me out with the help of the above example.

Thank you

Thanks ST,

It is so much of a privilege if we really think of it - to be trading. We do not have to go to the office, report to somebody, and trade only when we want to. Ofcourse all these lays serious responsibility on us to approach trading with discipline, doing the hard core analysis, taking a calculated risk, and watch over it atleast till the time it gets into a profit and confirming our analysis. But the rewards are worth it financially as well in terms of freedom and flexibility trading allows.

Sometimes, I just feel so blessed... At times we earn four or five figures in a span of a few minutes, hours or days. On the other hand when I go out for my evening walk - I see some roadside bhelpuri cart owner - with a plastic sheet covering his wares - so as not to lose it to rains.... or another pushing his cart around selling 2-5 rupee wares, but whom the cops will harass for 50 rupee hafta.

You are absolutely right, a small good deed bring us much joy than money earned in a trade - which we take for granted.

Today's incident touched my heart, as at the same time that I was eating, two other human beings stood aside hungry, but indulging their child.

Kya bolu.? Kuhda thu muje pe itna kyu meherban hai?

Well done, DSM, the joy of seeing the poor couple eat breakfast is much more than making a few thousands or even Lakhs in the business/trading.Consider that the God has given you "darshan" in the form of that poor couple.

On a lighter note :

A couple came upon a wishing well. The husband leaned over, made a wish and threw in a penny. The wife made a wish too, but she leaned over too much, fell into the well, and drowned. The husband was stunned for a moment but then smiled, "It really works!"

A Lawyer died and arrived at the pearly gates. Saint Peter asks him “What have you done to merit entrance into Heaven?” The Lawyer thought a moment, then said, “A week ago, I gave a quarter to a homeless person on the street.” Saint Peter asked Gabriel to check this out in the record, and after a moment Gabriel affirmed that this was true. Saint Peter said, “Well , that’s fine, but it’s not really quite enough to get you into Heaven.” The Lawyer said, “Wait Wait! There’s more! Three years ago I also gave a homeless person a quarter.” Saint Peter nodded to Gabriel, who after a moment nodded back, affirming this, too, had been verified. Saint Peter then whispered to Gabriel, “Well, what do you suggest we do with this fellow?” Gabriel gave the Lawyer a sidelong glance, then said to Saint Peter, “Let’s give him back his 50 cents and tell him to go to Hell.”

One day a boy came home running while crying. His mother asked what happened why are you crying? The boy said`I got punished for something I did not do’. His mother said ‘That’s horrible. what did you not do’. The boy in tears said`my homework’

The above story about the breakfast is a nice one. When I was last time in Brazil (Salvador, Bahia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvador,_Bahia) I was having a lunch by my self in a normal street restaurant. A dirty and pore woman past by and put there plate on each table. First I did not know what it means, but then I saw the Brazilian people taking away some food from there plates and put it on the one from that poor lady. So, I know what I had to do. But not end of the story. In the later afternoon I saw an other very poor person and he toke the stem from an ice cream, which was thrown to the floor, and licked on it. I was really shocked by that picture but was not able to take the poor man to an ice cream shop to buy him one. I just did not know what I had to do in that situation. Finally put some Real in his hand and left the place. Sad, but the other side of the coin.
