6) Lastly by reading books, forum posts, systems ,TA etc one does not learn how to trade profitably.....either the trader has to figure that out himself or be in group of successful traders and find out how other successful traders do it . This is an alternative to mentoring as it is very difficult to find a successful trader who will spend time for mentoring others.....the peer group will work great in this area....
How do you find such peer groups? I am at a stage where any further reading (books, forums, websites) is only a small incremental learning. New indicators take no time to learn, new strategies take a little longer and are only a surprise in the sense that "why did I not think of this myself" ... but what's missing is the experience. Paper trading I do not think is equivalent. How would someone go beyond this?

A lot of traders go broke by reading such stuff :( :mad:

So, how do the traders make money / not go broke ?? :confused:

and how can one go broke by taking small profits ?? Lower profits, ok, but he won't go broke, will he ??

Also, why do you keep this in your signature :mad: .. Kuch aur quotes bhi laao bhai... Something like this :

Traders must trade, no trade is only a temporary option. If there is no trade in your time frame, go to a lower one and find a trade ......... Baba Timepass on Traderji.com"

TP , I strongly believe that unless a trader adds to his winning positions and lets the profits run, he is going to be a marginal trader. Most book small profits quickly and wait in loosing positions ...but we have to also pay for brokerage,taxes etc...and small profits can never generate the money which is required for taking care of loosing trades and the ledger is negative inspite of small profits....and that is how traders go broke by taking small profits....I have an real life example of a very close friend who went bankrupt exactly by taking small profits....:D Will share that story some other time....

Agreed. So what a trader needs to control more, is to exit quickly from the losing position. These are uncertain times, and we don't have a trailing stoploss facility. An average guy, when he has to sit and keep modifying his stop loss all the time, is apt to make human errors. Not everyone is a steelman, you know. So, better to get out while ahead, rather than wait to get further ahead. Some event or the other, outside the trader's control, is going to bust his trade.

Anyway, it is my mantra during these days of experimenting.. I am experimenting with small profits, and there's nothing like overtrading. Let's see how it goes.

Received this SMS from Zerodha :

Trade UK's FTSE 100 index F&O contract on NSE. An interesting tool for those who want to run an arbitrage strategy between the Indian and International markets or purely for speculation, especially after 1 pm IST when the UK stock markets open.

Special offer for all our clients :

"11th May 2012 to 18th May 2012trade all FTSE F&O contracts for free at Zerodha."

Happy Trading !!!
Ye kya bola isne ?? Ok I understand that they will not charge any brokerage on this scrip for one week from 14th to 18th.. "For pure speculation".. ok, understood - buy sell like any scrip and no brokerage... what is this about "Arbitrage strategy between Indian and International Markets" ?? :confused:

"For free" they say.. what exactly that means ?? No brokerage or no any charges ?? No STT, no SEBI charges ?? What is this "Free" ??

While amateurs go broke in 2 ways:
-> by taking large losses
-> by taking small profits
Professionals go broke in other 2 ways:
-> BAD LUCK
-> BAD DAYS

Well u know thats my way u kn0w :D . Ironically i m gonna make this my signature form now onwards.. :clapping:

CHINA cuts BANK RESERVE RATIO by 50 basis points
Sudoku, did you notice that the Chinese Banks have a CRR of 20% !!!. Our banks have CRR of 6-7% and still RBI wants to make cuts in it. It makes me feel very insecure, that the PSU banks are so highly leveraged.
