Timepass, I'm lost.

Winter solstice is December 21. This is January.
Is that what Pongal means?
@4xpip,

Pongal, Makara Sankranthi, Lohri : Harvest Festival known by different names in different parts of India.

Pongal is also the name given to a particular food. Pongal food can be savoury or sweet.

Tp is correct when he says Winter Solstice - some parts of India follow the Lunar Calendar, and hence the difference in the date calculation :)

Pips, India traditionally being an agrarian society, the major festivals are placed around crop-cutting times - celebrated with different names and in different ways across the country. There is this Jan 13/14 festival, then April 13 and finally the Diwali/New year around October/November. Of course there are other major and minor festivals in between. As a matter of fact almost every day of Hindu calendar is associated with 3-4 festivals :)

Hi Kavima,

Here is 'Wishing You & Family A Very Happy Pongal'

Since all of you are in the Holiday mood...here is something to keep you occupied after shopping & Festivities...:)

Below in the image you have 3 glasses marked A, B & C & you have a 500 Rupee Note

Question that begs to be asked of these entities is that whether the Glass 'A' can be made to stand on the 500 Rupee Note, if kept across on top of Glass 'B' & 'C' (As In Reality/ Physically not in drawing form...!!!)

bilkul ho sakta hai sardar..... apne ye toh kabhi bola hi nahi ki glass ko note ke edge pe tikana.... note ko sula do aur uske upar glass ko rakh do....

Oy Santa Banta Ke Lost Bhai Tanta....Wapas s zara padhna.....:)
....& Glass A must rest only on the Note and the gap between the Glass B & C should be more than Diameter of the Glass A..:D
