NSE DataExtractor for FCharts

Dear srisara,

Please accept my lots of thanks for developing such a nice utility i.e.,
"DataExtractor".

Using your software, I have :-
(i) successfully downloaded EOD data of Equities from NSE from 1994 to 2005,
(ii)successfully converted it to FChart format & imported the same to FChart.

I am uploading "1994-to-2005_EQ_BHAVCOPY_EOD_FCHART_FORMAT.zip" (about 24 MB)
file at http://www.megaupload.com/?d=H02VLKZ9
which contains EOD data of Equities from NSE from 1994 to 2005 in FChart
format which can be directly be imported in FChart. Anyone interested can
download it.

If "DataExtractor" is made open-source than I can take up the further
development of it, i.e.,

1. Downloading & Converting of Indicies, F&O of NSE
2. Downloading & Converting of Equities, Indicies, F&O of BSE
3. Converting Intrady Tick Data to FChart, Amibroker, Metastock format
4. Other requested features, if possible

Once again, three cheers to srisara.

I am also thankful to pkjha30 (http://www.traderji.com/12387-post26.html)
for providing open access to http://briefcase.rediff.com/bn/br/pjhapondy

I am also attaching "OHLC_01_min_NIFTY_30122005_fc.txt" which is one minute
Intrady data of Nifty for 30/12/2005 in FChart format.
If requested than I can post daily(after trading hours) one minute Intrady data
of Nifty here.

Wishing you all Happy & Prosperous(Trading) New Year 2006.

Hi Sathya,
What I wanted to ask is " When downloading EOD Data using the Extractor,in the *.csv file, I am getting the Total Traded Quantity and Value. After Importing it into FCharts, When viewing the Chart, at the top, along with Scrip name, Open, High, Low and Close values, and Change, The value for Volume is " 0". This is same for all scrips imported."

That is why, I asked should I have to make any changes to the downloaded file for incorporating Volume values.

I am new to Fcharts. So I asked what should I do to incorporate the Volume values to be visible in the Chart.

Thanks
Shan
Hi shan,
all u need to do change total trd qty to volume, save and then import, u will be fine.

Hi ragh_ash,
Thanks for your suggestion. Please clear my doubt.
After downloading EOD data using this tool,do I have to just change the heading of "Total Trd Qty" into " Volume " and then import this file with changed heading into FCharts?

If yes, how to alter the already imported file?( is there any way to delete the already imported data?)
Thanks

Shan

Hi satya

It long time since I wrote in this thread.

I have one suggestion. When a range of dates are provided the software tries to download files for the days when nse is closed. For example saturdays, sundays and national holidays. Perhaps you can provide for auto skipping of such dates so that blank files are not created.

Pankaj,
thanks for writing.. I had to keep this option as sometimes we have trading on saturdays, like special trading sessions.

or i need to put a feature to give user to choose "ignore weekends". what say?

Also, I found lot of old versions of my DataExtractor is floating, so planning to come up with a final version.

Hi satya

You need not give any option as the program is downloading from a webserver. If file is not found for any date it will give you error message no 404.

HTTP 404 - File not found

You need to trap such errors and skip file go to next date.
In this way one need not remember special trading dates.

Hope this helps.

Almost all versions are working as the basic functionality is rock solid. I will again suggest you to come out with DataExtractor-1.0.0-rc1
DataExtractor-1.0.0-rc(final)
DataExtractor-1.0.0 (stable)
DataExtractor-1.0.1 (For incemental changes only)
DataExtrator-1.1.0 (For major changes)

This is only suggestive.

You can give installer for win98,win2000/xp so as to avoid file dependency problems. Installers are large but megaupload.com seems to allow it free. otherwise i will put it in my shared briefcase if it is within 25 mb.

I will later suggest you a good versioning software.

hi pankaj,
do u use Fcharts SE . I use it as a place to download data and then export the data into Amibroker ( for analyssis). It is cumbersome , but i console myself saying all of it is free. do u have a better option,
pl tell me.
