Re: Trading only one hour in a day !!!!!

Hi,

I am still a newbie to trading. I have a few questions regarding basics. Thought, I will ask them here as I will be doing paper trading on this strategy.

My questions:
1. when you say long, does it mean that we buy the stock ?
2. when you say short, does it mean that we sell the stock ?
3. If (1) and (2) are correct, what is the difference between short and square off ?
4. Can we do first sell and later buy using this (BTST) strategy ?. My understanding is that we can do it in intraday trading. Not sure if we can do sell & buy in BTST.

Waiting for the reply.

Thanks in advance,
Vinay

Hi bro...your 1 and 2 points are fine...when u mean square off it means u close ur existing position i e if u have bought u seel and if u have sold u buy..

Regarding shorting...if u have shorted(sold) first in the cash market( stocks) then u have to buy back the same day before 3.30 or else u will have to pay some fine...but in the futures market u can keep ur short position upto expiry....

Re: Trading only one hour in a day !!!!!

Hi pkamalesh,

Thanks for answering my queries.

If I want to use this ( 70:30) strategy, then I cannot short on stocks as I have to buy them back before 3.30, right ?.

another question, are all the nse indexes future markets?

Thanks,
Vinay

Stock reco's from the pattern finder (sharekhan)

Hi friends...Sharekhan has newly introduced a pattern finder software which identifies various bullish and bearish patterns on stocks. For the benefit of all you guys who would be new and confused with the technicals ( for buyig or selling) this would be helpful to make a few decisions. It is just an effort to help all my novice friends to have an idea for stock selection. However plzz remember that what ever is put up in here would be directly from that software and things might not work always. The idea is to learn a few technicals and start working independently....

Re: Stock reco's from the pattern finder (sharekhan)

Lets start with nifty...

Continuation Wedge (Bearish)

A Continuation Wedge (Bearish) is considered a bearish signal, indicating that the current downtrend may continue. Prices edge steadily higher in a converging pattern i.e. there are higher highs and higher lows. The Technical Event occurs when prices break below the lower trendline, which confirms the pattern.

Event Date: Jan 09, 2009
Opportunity Type: Intermediate-Term Bearish
Close Price: 2,873.00
Target Price Range: 2,310.00 - 2,422.00

Re: Stock reco's from the pattern finder (sharekhan)

Price Crosses Moving Average Rate this Event

A moving average is an indicator that shows the average value of a security's price over a period of time. This type of event occurs when the price crosses a moving average. Three moving averages are supported: 21, 50 and 200 price bars. A price cross of a longer moving average indicates a longer term signal. A bullish signal is generated when the price rises above its moving average and a bearish signal is generated when the price falls below its moving average.

Opportunity Type: Intermediate-Term Bearish
Close Price: 2,873.00
