Im in my second year and I will give my CFA in dec next year (My third year) I also have to give the CAT, I was thinking that I should start my preliminary studies from this year only as managing both exams in one year will be very difficult. What do you think about that?

Is there any crossover benefits from both exams in the other for preparations?

No there not a single crossover benefits.

CFA has its own curriculum ..Lot about capital market and fund management etc etc

on the other hand CAT has 3 different section 1. English 2. Maths 3. Logical reasoning

So you have to study all the together different subjects for both the exams

CAT is simple exam with huge competition ..on the other hand CFA has huge syllabus with relatively tough exam

So my suggestion would be for you...start studying for CAT now...and after May next year start studying CFA books....it will be very tough to crack both exam at the same time..but lots people do( but they are very good in studying..I don't know about you)...as you know a lot about capital markets you will find CFA Level 1 is very interesting and easy..it will be start tougher from level 2 onwards.

Will I be able to secure job without MBA if I do just CFA?

I dont have a social life so I can study day-night, I am capable of that If subjects are interesting. I am weak in higher maths. (Not the type I use everyday in finance, I can do those) I am weak in memorization but I am great am analyticals and logical thinking. What do you suggest I focus on for both exams?

If I buy books for CAT this year will they be applicable in the next CAT exam?

As CFA books expire after the publishing year exam is over as they change syllabus every year.

How has your reponse been as a CFA in the job market?

What kind of salary should I expect if I get into top 50 MBA, with my self-employed business experience and fund management skills?

But in CFA is all about memorization and maths...there is not much analytical and logical thinking in there....and CAT has very tough maths....so in short words god bless you

Yes of course it will

No they don't change much...you can get CFA books in any reputed book store in Delhi..specially level 1 are easily available

as I told you before for only CFA you need very good undergraduation degree otherwise there are lot of people roaming around with CFA

What kind of salary should I expect if I get into top 50 MBA, with my self-employed business experience and fund management skills?

its depend on how well you do in your MBA studies and hows is your past grade records, like your undergraduation marks, 10th and 12th.....for higher salary you should be excellent in all these classes....IIMs has average 8-10 Lpa for average students....from my company I go sometime to recruit MBA graduate in our company from IIMs ..So I have fairly good knowledge what recruiter looking for

Entry criteria for foreign schools like Oxbridge and LSE are more flexible and they don't take marks into as much consideration as Indian school.

Should I abandon CAT all together and Only study for my CFA and go to foreign school? (In my language they do more qualitative analysis than quantitative.)

IIM average people get 8-9 lpa? Is this people with work exp or who joined directly after bachelors?

It is positional ..to me intraday (day trading ) is some thing that does not exist in reality ... It like darkness which in fact doesn't exist on its own .. Darkness is nothing but absence of light .. There is no such thing called day trading
I could probably understand this stance at the beginning of this thread.. but not today..
