Portfolio Review

...
Other in my mind are

DWS ALFA EQUITY FUND - GROWTH &
DWS INVESTMENT OPPURTUNITIS.

I see these fund performance very good but have no recomadation in this forum. Funds which have recomendation performed low then these funds.
Any hidden reason for this, becouse i am new may not be knowing. Help in selection advise will be welcome.

Thanks
Quite true. Even though DWS is part of Deutsche Bank, it is a low-profile fund. There is something called Taurus Star Share. If you look at a recent Outlook Money magazine (which has the yearly OLM mutual fund rating), it actually has given (in their own tables) the 4th highest return in past 1 year, 2nd highest return in 3 years, and highest in 5 years. There were over 50 funds in that open diversified category. Outlook however, gave a very low rating (50, from my memory).

Pedigree may be one thing, but being the first after 5 years should count!

You are investing in too many funds (13 funds) and planning to invest another NFO.

From outlook it looks like you have invested in most of the funds initially (NFO).

Keep your funds to 5 or 6 spanning across Large Cap Funds (2), Mid Cap fund, Vanilla fund(mixed cap fund) and a sector fund (if your risk level is little on high side).

If you could mention your risk level and tenure of investment term, it will help others to suggest.

Also vijay121264 , you have 5 infrastructure funds in your portfolio. Thats too many. Stick to 1 infrastructure fund if you are an aggressive investor.

On the whole a portfolio should not contain more than 4-5 funds.

Based on your the level of risk you would like to take set a minimum amount of large cap exposure in your portfolio. For example for me it is 50%.

DWS is an upcoming fund house. Its performance in 2006 & 2007 has been absolutely great. 2005 was a bad year for this fund house.

Apart from these 2 funds the others that are promising are in the following link.

2 funds that can be added are Kotak 30 & Reliance Growth.

All three are excellent Funds. And Recently Reliance Growth fund has come up with a FREE insurance if you do an SIP of more then Rs 2000 per month.
I would recommend if you have 5 year financial goal then why not take the advantage of the Insurance as well. The only thing is insurance is limited to Rs. 10 lakhs only and on premature withdrawal they charge 2% exit load. for more information check out. www.MFexpert.com on article regarding reliance SIP Insurance.

Hello Guys,

I have a SIP option of Rs.5000 with UTI Infrastructure (G) and I am planning to invest somemore on some good funds.

I was keeping a close watch on valueresearch/moneycontrol/mutualfundnav for quite sometime and have come up with a portfolio as below.

Please kindly note that I am still new to the MF world and am still trying to learn the MF jargons, so please review my portfolio and share your valuable comments.

I will wait for all the MF Gurus to glance through my new portfolio to make a final call. Please feel free to suggest/add any good funds.

Reliance Growth
DSPML T.I.G.E.R. Reg
HDFC Top 200-G

and +/- Reliance Diversified Power Sector Retail-G

Thanks a lot in advance for your time.
