R K Global Issues!

Been using the ODIN version for the past month, it is excellent. Have not faced a problem yet, once the initial issues were resolved. Probably what helped a lot was the update and patch released by RKG, and this has sorted out all the issues. Now the software seems as robust as Sharekhan TT, no disconnects, or any other issues that I have seen. Orders are executed instantly. Price captured is pretty good, though sometimes I feel Sharekhan TT was giving a faster response. When away from home, the web version is excellent for short periods of trading, far superior to Sharekhan web version (which sucks). And they provide the web version for free if you have ODIN subscription. I think I can now recommend this platform/broker. They have proven to be both cheap and reliable, based on my one month of testing.

The only question that remains is, if I put all my trading capital with them - can I trust them with lacs of rupees? Its a much smaller outfit than Sharekhan so the default risk remains. Have to think about that one.

Yes, I should - thought I'd try out the web version for a few weeks before committing to a monthly payment for ODIN and then transition all trades from Sharekhan to RKG.
Any experiences with ODIN of RKG from people using them regularly? Does it time out for 15 minutes in the middle of the day? Missed order execution? Delayed order (delay of an hour+) execution on limit orders despite price matching market? Any other weird bugs or errors? Please share.
Sharekhan is pretty robust but they are not cheap and they won't negotiate much.
Thanks

I've been using RKG from 2 years almost now (opened a/c in Jan 2009) and used HDFC and now ICICI as bank linked. With HDFC you can transfer money instantly to your trading or back in bank, in ICICI you have to send money via netbanking and send reference number and they update that in few hours (since NEFT takes time)

Regarding money is safe or not, it's a NSE/BSE broker according to SEBI rules and it won't run away doing fraud, it has a very good client base and huge amount of dealing is done since FnO are higher priced lower volumes stuff. Reason for funds transfer I posted in begining is if you really are worried you can open a HDFC bank a/c and link it to get real time fund transfers. Even sharekhan can turn fraud, who knows.

Is it good to trade in commodities with RKG's online trading (WEB ) platform?
Is it differ from their Equity trading platform (WEB VERSION)?
I am interested in opening a new commodity account with them. I have already an online trading a/c in NSE Derivatives with them. I am using their WEB trading platform. Is it possible to trade in commodities after trading at NSE with the same cash margin in the ledger balance or I have to deposit it seperately?

Kindly let me know the details.

For payout from RKG trading account to HDFC what is the min/max time they will take?
Does time taken for payout depend on amount?
Trade payout takes T+2 just like any broker. You can transfer unused money instantly. That post was refered towards query that can someone trust RKG by keeping money with them. So my reply was you can divert moeny to and fro instantly if you have HDFC and for trades, nse/bse deals with once it's executed and payout dates are (as far as I know only icici direct gives money same day on trade charging flat 1% brokerage) always T+2. :)

@ gb333,

I don't have commodity idea though I use web platform for FnO. If I can put this way, it's like what you pay, cheap. They have made a new website which is better than old one but still it is unavailable sometimes (once in a week), gives errors when load is high like no response from server, takes time to load or login and finally hangs during quotes flashes often. Having said this, if I'm paying 15 bucks total for rs 99 month on one side trade consisting brokerage, taxes, stt and stamp charges and comparing with other cheapest brokers charing rs 30 lot with comes out to be 38, and if your volumes are high, it's ok to suffer a little. In the end you save money. Else you can always get good diet odins on premium charges. :)

I'm moving all my market operations to RK Global. Not had an outage or any problems since I started trading with them 5 weeks ago. I will post my experience. I'm trading currencies on MCXSX and F&O on NSE. Thinking about using the option of opening a HDFC account; currently use Axis Bank and thats a slow manual process using NEFT inward and outward (similar to ICICI). Thanks for the info.

Its been a few days and everything is going smooth. I opened a HDFC account and wanted to link it for instant transfers. Sent an email and followed up with a phone call and it was done in 2 days. Much better customer service than many other brokers. Now fund transfers are instant, I have tried it out. The ODIN client is excellent (except that there is no useful charting) and it is quick and efficient. No timeouts or missed trades. Every trade execution is instant and at a good price. I tried trading currencies, futures, options over the past few days. Uptime of trading connection is 100% for me so far with RKG.
Yesterday Sharekhan web version would not display quotes for a couple of hours and I could not trade with them. They definitely have issues every now and then both with the terminal and web. I withdrew all my money and transferred to RKG. RKG web version continues to be excellent for short spells of trading away from my main computer, but is slow compared to ODIN.

If this performance of RKG continues I will be a very happy customer for years to come.

Trading without charts is like blind-men describing an elephant.
Better to stick to TradeTiger rather than pure WEB-based either Sharekhan
or RKG.
