SEBI's new move to cut retailers participation in F&O!

Thanks da, will it be possible to trade intraday in cash with some leverage?
Yes...cash is very much liquid asset and part of liquid networth....so on the cash in the bank account one can get the exposure to daytrade few contracts in F & O or in cash market.

Research shows that retail investors don't distort derivative market fundamentals but enhance price efficiency and liquidity.

:up::up:

Now we have powerful support behind - The NSE lobby which will try to prevent hard regulations. :happy: NSE obviously don't want to lose their derivative business at least for options market.

Someone close to me and directly related to brokerage business informed me today also, NSE will try to protect their business in Options Segment. Option Segment (buy only using premiums) may skip any such hard rule.
One small retail trader can trade options segment comfortably using last 3 years ITR if the only premium is considered as an exposure. NSE & Brokers are building up pressure since last few days to protect the options segment business.

So, now concentrate on your trade and increase your net-worth as much as possible. :))
We will get at least a few weeks time also to take appropriate steps ( to prepare net-worth etc) after any type of regulation.

I don't think the SEC in the statement was talking about plain vanilla futures and options. The OTC products in US are indeed complex and far from standardized.

When regulators in the US talk about regulating derivatives they have a completely different set of products in mind. And then here the regulators interpret that as meaning all standardized derivatives and apply the same set of rules

Yes.
And here the main business in derivative from small retail traders is coming from OPTION SEGMENT only. Small retail traders are trading mostly buy side with limited capital. NSE & Brokers are trying to protect this group from hard regulation. Index Option segment is big business for NSE where some good volume is coming from the small retail traders.
